PSA for you women-folk. RE: food on dates
If we're going to a resturant and we agree to share an appetizer, don't then say you don't want any of it when the food arrives. You know how awkward that is when we're forced to be the only one stuffing our face? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have at least a bite or two.

Thank you for your time during this PSA.

:hi:

1. Conversely, one party should not say "Oh, I'm not hungry" and then
proceed to snarf most of the other person's food.

18. Oh Amen. I hate going out with groups of people where some of them say "I don't want my fries"..
to the waiter and then end up gobbling up their neighbors' fries.

2. If it's the first date, we usually eat like a bird, but we are really starvin
we don't want the gentleman to think we gobble like a hog on a date....

but if one party asks the other if they'd like to share an appetizer or whatever, it's kinda rude for the other partyto say yes then refuse ANY of said food when it arrives.

5. Agreed. I'm not shy about eating, especially if my blood sugar is
low. Eating on a first date would be far less embarassing than sliding in a heap to the floor because I passed out from low blood sugar.

4. Women are in a bit of a cultural bind re: food on dates.
If they actually eat a reasonable quantity of filling food, they may be perceived badly, or seen as greedy if the food is expensive. Fancy date clothes for women often aren't real accommodating of a slight bit of bloat after a good meal, either.

If they eat a small quantity of food, or get a relatively healthy meal, they may be perceived as being shallow, vain or neurotic.

Please be understanding of the fact that, due to entirely stupid social pressures, a woman may be conflicted about what to eat and how much on a date. Especially if it's one of the first few dates, or if she has any issues about food or her body.

6. I understand completely
First dates suck for all parties, since it's basically a job interview. This first date tonight had nothing to do with food. We met for an outdoor concert, then she suggested we go get drinks and whatnot.

9. my priorities
were captured in how I misread the thread title. Y'all are focusing on relationship issues, and I'm over there thinking Mmmmmmm. Dates. (and expecting a PSA about either a health risk or benefit of eating them.)

15. Didn't she share the wings?
Informal food is great as long as it is SHARED!

Let me ask you this: If she had shared her wings with you and then offered to suck the grease off your fingers would there have been a second date?

Ummm Hmmm. THOUGHT so.

:spank:

17. That's funny -
the men I know love women with appetites, women who can really get into food, because, well, appetites are appetites, if you know what I mean.

Are you prissy? Your post sounded prissy...............................

23. I EAT. I'm slender but I can really put it away and once it goes down, it stays there.
Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 06:53 PM by blondeatlast
I've been women who refused to eat that in socail gatherings and I HATE it. I EAT and I ENJOY it.

Besides, food is sensual. someone who can't or won't enjoy won't enjoy sex, IMHO.
