Red letter night for Amelia the monkey cat: POSSUM! |
After midnight there was this odd grunty type noise from the porch. If it was a burglar it was the world's dopiest one since my door's in fact unlocked, so I was fairly unworried. Looked down and there was a possum just getting out of the recycling bin. Amelia was-- well, to be perfectly honest, I think she was scared, but anyway it made a change from the squirrels and bad outdoor kitties. Dunno what the possum thought it would find in my recycling bin. There were a couple of tomato paste cans that I didn't wash out completely and a hint of strawberry juice on the strawberry container, but nothing that would constitute significant food value. I don't think even the ants are interested. But maybe ants are the explanation.
(I should probably stress that Amelia is never allowed out, so no rabies worries.)

1. She was protecting you, Bossy Monkey. |
Just like The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger protects me from Crane flies, lizards and a restful night's sleep.
GO AMELIA!

2. Amelia is a courageous watchcat, so long as the invaders aren't bigger than baby squirrels |

5. Back at the old place, Amelia defended us ferociously from the Evil Outside Cats |
I think that this was because the back door was mostly glass, so she could see the outside cats nose to nose. Here, there are only windows, so she is looking down on them, as befits the queen she is. Anyway, she's much calmer when outside cats come in view of her window; no growling, hissing or jumping. No doubt she now regards them as paying court.:) back
