Next door dog. jeez...
We have a next door dog.
She's a mini pinscher.
Possibly a bit more hyper than a chihuahua.

She yips at everything.
Always.

When the neighbors are out of town, she stays with us.
Sleeps in our bed, burrowed down under the covers.
Cuddled up next to my warm side.
I'm fine with that.
We're dog (and cat) people.

But the next morning, when I get up, she YIPS at me.
She just spent the whole night sleeping WITH me, and she barks at me when I get out of bed.

Her name is Penney.
I say "LOOK, Penney. We just spent the damn WHOLE NIGHT together. You can't bark at me. This is MY house, and MY bed!
Bug OFF!"

And she barks.
:wtf:

2. Perhaps she's trying to tell you something? Like "outside" or "food"....
My little dog is NOT a constant yapper, but she does growl or bark to talk.

4. my next door neighbors have three dogs and two of them bark constantly
the big male german shepherd and female yellow lab mix make such a damn racket. i hate few things more than barking dogs.

here's just a small list of things they bark at, some of which i kind of understand but some i don't

- people walking by
- bicyclists
- skateboarders
- people walking their dogs
- cats
- birds
- people getting out of their cars
- people in the park behind the houses across the street
- me when i come in through the side gate, but not when i come out the back door
- me when i mow the lawn
- my roommate when he's wearing his bike helmet

hell, the lab stands under a bush and turns around to bark at the bush because the branches are tickling her butt. she just barks at the bush rather than move away from it :wtf:

there are days i just want to give them peanut butter.

hell, i can hear the lab barking inside their house right now :banghead:

6. It's very nice of you
to take care of your neighbor's dog when they are away
We did that in Tampa for a neighbor who sometimes need to go out of town in regard to her graduate program or when she wanted to visit family and didn't want to fly the dog
I think she (the dog) was maybe a Doberman mix
The neighbor collected our mail and checked up on our condo when we went on vacation
'Course over time the neighbor got a couple of cats which involved litter box cleaning :eyes: at her place in exchange
The dog was the perfect house guest... slept with us at night, napped in the bed while were were both out and caused a nosy cat to fall in our fish pond

8. The dog at the house behind me howls whenever he hears a fire engine
The engine can be so distant that I don't notice it, but he sure hears it.

9. I have 2 little yappers across the street
Owner ties them out so they're about 10 feet from the road, yapping at the top of their lungs.

My 2 guys sit, or stand, and stare at them in silence. It drives the yappers totally bonkers. Drives my neighbor nuts too. Not his yappers. My guys just staring at them. Sometimes for hours.
