Need some advice about a flame
What's the best way to light charcoal that doesn't involve chemicals?

I hate ruining the taste of a good steak with lighter fluid residue.

10. You can make a chimney from a coffee can
The metal kind, not the plastic ones.

11. I bet the plastic ones work good.
Pretty sure they are flammable - and you wouldn't have to worry about storage:rofl:

14. Coffee cans will work but even the big cans are kinda small

I made one from light weight steel plate using the burned out store bought one as a model. I made it taller and was not disappointed. Rivets held the whole thing together as well as the handle. It lasted about a dozen years. I'm back with a freebie store bought one until I get inspired to make another one.

8. There's the waxy-sawdust kind of stuff you can buy...
A little chunk among the briquettes will start them off.

And don't listen to anyone who tells you to use gas! It's so impersonal--you might as well use your oven...

15. The question is how to start the fire not sustain it
Besides, wouldn't the duck just fly away?
