Just curious if it's worth the money. I took Spanish in high school (ages ago), but really want to be able to have a passable conversation with Spanish speaking friends, colleagues, etc.

1. It's not worth the money.
www.livemocha.com has basically the same software for free plus social networking features that let you chat with native speakers whenever you want.

2. Hey, thanks!
That looks like a cool site to brush up on my Japanese skills.

5. Hey, thanks for the link!
Now I can learn Farsi :D

I would actually like to learn it and Arabic. It would help immensely in researching Middle Eastern cultures for writing :)

4. I'm learning Portuguese
I ordered the first two units in spring '08 and am finishing up the second unit now (I have also ordered Unit 3 but have not yet started)...So far my opinion has been very positive as it does build up a very strong and usable foundation...Granted, it is expensive, you can find a promotional deal from time to time to save some cash...It was worth every penny to me, ymmv.

Local Library
My local library has it online for free (for county residents).

I've also used LiveMocha, but the instructions aren't always clear. So I drifted away in frustration after some negative peer feedback. So when I gave feedback, I made doubly sure it was encouraging, while showing the corrections.

7. If you took Spanish, you already know enough.
What you have to do is start speaking it regularly with these friends and colleagues.

Practice makes perfect.
