Who else misses the job they USED to have?
Now is now, and then is then.

Times are different.

It's a different environment.

It is what it is.

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...

1. I do miss the one from which I was most recently laid off.
Best job I ever had. Great people (for the most part), best wage, best work environment, and overall just a great job. Too bad the bankers had to go and ruin it all for everybody...

10. Sr. Pipeline Mapping Designer
I designed maps, routes for proposed pipelines, both on and offshore. Tiny little company, less than a dozen of us in that office :)

2. I am nostalgic for when I worked at a TV station
It was TORTURE, the hours were HORRENDOUS, the owners PROFOUNDLY IGNORANT (the last one, Clear Channel--!--vaporized my entire position and me along with it) but... {sigh} the place got under your skin. Plus I really felt like I was providing a service instead of just trying to sell somebody something.

5. I worked at a photography gallery in La Jolla, California
not the best wages, but I was in college, so it was OK.

Great photos, very nice owner/photographer, incredible view of the Pacific Ocean out the back windows.

Sigh. I should have parlayed that experience into a full time job managing galleries. Instead, dumbshit that I am, I went to law school and tried to be a corporate lawyer for 6 years. Idiot.

eclipse I witnessed while working there - right off the southern California coastline in the early 90s. It was spectacular.

11. Me VERY much
used to be service manager for a home improvement company.

The owners treated us like gold and we worked our asses off for them in return.

Anyone familiar with Detroit knows lellis restaurant...class all the way...the company rented it for our x-mas party several times..the first time the alcohol bill was over 10,000

They flew all the managers somewhere once a year to unwind..I went to aruba..bahamas...fishing in Key West

Loved that company.They eventually retired

12. I do - from several years back
It just seemed that everything came together at this one company - the people were the best, they were smart but fun and friendly and helpful. The pay was awful but it was a family run company of around 1500 ee's and it was great - big holiday parties, people used to hang out together after work. Absolutely insane workkloads but it felt like you 'did' something when you left for the day. I met my husband there and most of my facebook and 'real life' friends are those I met there.

:(

When a new building opened I was asked to go. I was flattered.

I should have known better.....

I know - I have a job. But I now also have issues with anxiety. I don't really want to go back on Xanax.

Right now I'm loving summer even though the weather is the worst I think it's ever been!

28. Funny you should mention this...
I was thinking about it today. I was a bookseller for nearly 20 years. The business tanked last year. I still run into my old customers & they all say how much they miss the store. The pay sucked, retail at Christmas bit the big one, but we were an important part of the community.
You're right. It is what it is.

37. I was a family's personal assistant for a few years.
They were very wealthy and even helped pay for my college. I basically house-sitted and did some house and yard work, but didn't have a way of getting health insurance. So, I did the "grown-up" thing and had to go out and get a "real" job. Damned healthcare!

39. Not me.
There wasn't a job I previously had that I'd go back to. Not a one. Then again I have this nasty habit of staying in environments that are no good for me. When I left my previous employer after nearly 17 years never once did it even feel weird not to go there everyday. I thought when I walked out the door for the last time I'd feel like I left my home, but I never did.

43. My first post-Army job was in a library, and it was the best job I ever had.
The pay was piss-poor, but I bounded up out of bed every morning eager to get to work, and I had a lot of fun.

I will never enjoy another job the way I did that one.

44. Hi! Yeah, I had a job I really liked
It didn't pay all that much and there were some negatives attached, but I loved the workplace and actual work. Problem was the people!!! It usually is: either boss, co-boss or co-workers. I quit under duress and now realize I was bullied in the workplace!:grr: I just didn't know that at the time.

and then worst of all, i had to TEACH them how to do it right, putting myself out of a job!
