Looking for an approporaite toy for an 8wk old Beagle puppy? |
|
Something not to expensive, preferrably under $10. A friend of mine just got a new puppy and is looking for a toy to keep his new little bundle of joy occupied.

You can get natural fiber rope in whatever diameter you think is best for him at any hardware - by the foot for next to nothing. Tie your own knots. It will be shredded in no time, but it is floss for the teeth and great entertainment. It is also inexpensive to replace!

8. I wouldn't recommend rope toys. |
|
One of our dogs swallowed some of the fibers and it caused an obstruction (and veterinary bills). She was fine, but she was so sick for a few days.
If you do decide on a rope toy, get a good quality one from a pet store. And throw it away as soon as it frays.
There are developmental toys at the large chain pet stores that are pretty good.

3. A kong. You fill it with peanut butter or the like, and let the puppy have it. |
|
Or feed it kibble out of a buster cube or a molecuball. Mine loves her molecuball.

6. Another 8wk old Beagle puppy |
|
They'd keep each other occupied and they'd cut down on the impromptu chew toys (shoes, furniture, etc).

10. The Petstages toys are good for puppies. |
|
A friend of mine adopted two littermates and she seemed to have the best results with them, and they're under $10 each. Here's a link to one of the toys, PetsMart carries a variety of them: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3207125&lmdn=Pet+Size

11. Beagles are fine dogs. |
|
They love to chew and will destroy every shoe in the house if left to their own devices.
Get *several* chew toys.
Beagles like to dig, too, so your backyard will be pitted.

You can stuff treats in them to keep the dog occupied for hours. They're definitely under $10.
