i just have to keep reminding myself i only have a roommate for nine more days |
|
how on earth can a 31-year-old man not know how to wash a fucking pan?
i grabbed a pan out of the drainboard to make dinner and saw that it was crusted with gods know what. grabbed a pan from the cupboard and it was covered in globs of hamburger fat. grabbed another one from the cupboard and it was coated in a very visible sheen of grease.
i don't get it, washing dishes in not a difficult thing to do, but he seems to think that swirling a bit of soap and water around in a pot or pan magically makes it clean :banghead:
only nine more days...only nine more days...

Oh, my god!
That's truly awful...
I guess nobody ever showed him, or he doesn't give a damn?
Hang on, sweetie...
Soon it will be OVER!

4. I know a 32 year old guy just like that. |
|
Just a messy guy. Could live forever in filth. I certainly don't get it myself.

i thought clean and dirty were pretty well easily identified, at least when it came to simple things like dishes, counters and stove tops.
i guess this is what i get for expecting people to pay attention and actually care about this stuff.

7. Yep, some people just don't care. |
|
This friend of mine just got a brand new car. I told him it would look like ass in about 3 weeks. He swore he'd keep it clean because it was a new car. NOPE. Looks like ass as we speak. Some people just don't care. Just don't. If this guy ever gets married, he will have one rude awakening. Or his spouse will.

9. he was looking for a new place and i was worried that i'd get a call for a reference |
|
he's a nice guy and always pays his share on time, but he can't/won't clean for shit.
he's been single for the 18 months we've lived together and was for sometime before that. i agree that either he or any future so/spouse is in for an unhappy surprise.

12. Well if they ever do call, just be truthful. |
|
He pays on time but is messy. I would hate to live with a messy person. I couldn't do it actually. We'd be fighting A LOT!

14. After 34 years I have not been able to teach my 57 year old husband how to wash stuff |
|
At least in the kitchen. He thinks a rinse is good enough or not even that if it doesn't 'look' dirty. I can't teach him the basics of food handling safety, even though I have explained it to him over and over.
At least he does the laundry - and better than I would. So he does have redeeming traits.

comes with working in a kitchen for as long as he has, i guess, but the downside is that he hates doing them.

16. Well, I will live with my guy doing the laundry |
|
The only time his inability to do dishes bugs me is when I can't. The good news is that I am getting back mobility in my right arm from the shoulder surgery so now I can do a limited amount of kitchen work. But the last two months have been hit or miss on whether the dishes and pans actually got clean.
Last week he put a peanut butter jar that still had a good amount of peanut butter in it in the dishwasher with a load of dishes. The entire load was gritty with peanut butter. Which, of course, I did not discover until I had unloaded 95% of the dishes.
At least with the new washing machine he has a hard time overloading it and he can keep up with laundry. And he does have other good qualities (he is a great nurse and takes good care of me after my surgeries), so I'll keep him.

I have a 38 year old roommate that is the same. And that just when he decides to help with dishes, which is almost never. I hate having to do dishes for an adult. x(
Just breathe. Your trial is almost over.

18. I don't do roommates anymore |
|
every single roommate I have had in my adult life, quit paying rent eventually. Or they quit/lost their jobs and quit paying rent. Either way, they all ended up staying for months at a time without paying rent.
I have been on my own since I was 18-years-old. I have paid rent every month since then. Why do I have to pay rent and nobody else does? You can see that roommates are a touchy subject for me..lol.
