city manager marries porn star, loses Florida job

WBBH: Former Seward city manager Scott Janke was fired from his town manager job in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., this week after the town council learned his wife is a hardcore porn star. The council held a special meeting Tuesday night after getting media calls regarding an Adult Industry News report that Janke's wife is porn star Jazella Moore. They were married last year. The council fired Janke for what one member called "the good of constituency." In an interview with the Cape Coral Daily Breeze, Janke wouldn't comment on his firing and said he and his wife are reviewing their options. Before his Seward job, which he left in 2002, Janke was city manager in Cordova; he was suspended from that job for 30 days in 1995 because of public complaints about his behavior while drinking during his off-time, The Cordova Times reported.

Regardless of what her job is, how does that effect his ability to do his job?

3. I suspect there is more to the story

The article didn't say because she is a porn star, only that he was fired after it was discovered. I expect they found some other unsavory things in his past - like being suspended from that earlier job - that he didn't disclose.

If not, I'm sure they'll dig something up fast! LOL

8. The law has very little to say on the subject

There are only 8 basis by which it's illegal to fire someone which are things like race, religion, sex, disability, etc.

If he had a contract, he may have grounds to sue, and without a contract he was an "at will" employee, which means an employer can fire him for whatever reason they want outside of the 8 things mentioned in the Civil Rights Act. Ability to do his job has nothing to do with it.
