Something cute! My kids are all in Germany with their father,
and I've been hearing that my youngest misses me. The little guy is almost ten and having two teenage siblings he's lewd, rude and generally disruptive. Anyhow, Kira, my daughter, writes to tell me that he's been taking to bed a teddy bear I gave him years ago, and before sleeping, kisses it and asks it to make sure that "Mama gets (his) love." Even my daughter was like, "Awwwww..."

I sort of miss them. :P Here's a recent pic of my wee boy, just to give you a mental image:

Thanks for reading. The boys will be gone for six weeks and it's starting to feel empty around here.

6. Your son is very handsome.
And it's lovely that he still needs his mommy. It will be a long six weeks for you I'm sure.

It will be a wonderful reunion at the end of the summer, though.

When he gets back, he's getting his own room which I know he'll love. His brother may love it more, however.

8. He is truly beautiful.
My 7 year old daughter was away for 11 hours today and when I picked her up she said "whew, Mommy I didn't think I could be without you that long." Six weeks would probably kill us both. Hope you make the most of your time while they are away, and hope he has a wonderful time in Germany.

9. Thank you, newcriminal.
I remember when eleven hours was a lifetime! I think it's very important for kids to see the world so I I was very happy to let mine go with their father to Germany. It's their second trip and I hope there are many more. But... I miss their fluffy cuteness. Your daughter sounds lovely! Give her a kiss. :hi:

11. What a cutie! No matter how old our boys get
they always need their Moms. They just don't often admit that.

:)

I hate it when the house is so quiet for a long period of time. I'm having to adjust to being alone every night. My husband and I are now on opposite shifts and I hate it. :(

No kids at home anymore. All grown up and living far away.

I hope your 6 weeks goes by as fast as you need them too. Enjoy some time for yourself though.

17. Cool!
Ih the past (when we were married) we'd go to St. Goar on the Rhine where my ex's mother is from, and Munich where the ex did his graduate studies. I love it in both areas, but the kids have been in Berlin and don't like it as much. I'm wondering where Lahr is. Will look it up.

18. I have a daughter, the oldest (she's eighteen).
In so many ways she's just perfect, but we tend to be in an endless contest with one another - I know not what is the prize. This fall she goes to college and I have very mixed feelings about seeing her go. At bottom, I admire the hell out of her when I admire few people. Maybe that's the problem. :P

And I have two sons who are manageable even when they're at their worst. I am so very lucky...!

24. Philosophy?
It doesn't necessarily fly in the workplace but it does suggest your boy is something special. He's also a fine-looking young man and I love that he's running. My oldest boy runs although he's only just about to be a junior in HS.

I can't imagine having seen five children leave but I can imagine the tapestry of memories you have, and your future, bright with family and more family.

Life. It's a ride, isn't it?

20. Well, he's certainly a cutie.
My ex and I joke that when he was born he was so *unattractive* that we didn't want anybody to see him... this after two beautiful babies! But he's turned out to be a handsome and brilliant young man. I am lucky, and thank you. :D

26. TK421 doesn't flirt with me enough!
I love to see you jealous. :P

I'm regularly surprised by how lovely my kids are. I remember being young - college age - and at home, maybe getting ready for a party or something. I'd feel my father's eyes on me and would turn to see a look in his eyes... Now I understand. There is nothing more breathtaking than one's own children.

Sometimes getting old ain't so bad.

27. you articulate that so well
"...nothing more breathtaking than one's own children" sometimes I imagine others think me a bit daft because that is exactly the way I feel: seeing my children is breathtaking, and oh.. grandchildren. I have one grandaughter and I fear sometimes that that will be it.

29. Not at all daft.
I totally understand and I look to my grandchildren with... reverence. If one were to imagine a God, one would also imagine that our progeny is our gift for survival.

I hope for you another grandchild.

33. For years I heard people talking about how beautiful their children were.
Especially babies. I never saw it. Babies were babies. Sometimes cute; sometimes disgusting; that was it.

Then my first grandson was born. (Remember, I have no children of my own, and all of my grandkids are steps.) Yep. He was cute. And sometimes disgusting. Then he got to be about six months old. He lost his baby acne, and his plucked chicken look. I came home from work one day. He saw me, and his eyes brightened and he smiled at me, and my breath was taken away. I swear I'd never seen anything so beautiful in my life. I was transformed. I was one of "them". One of the besotted legion, who talked endlessly about how beautiful their kids or grandkids were. And I'm not ashamed to say so. :-)

I used to call my youngest an imp...and he was the sweetest little boy...
Now my baby is 27...The years pass so quickly.

Thankfully, you have a few years before you have an empty nest...
Now I have a grandson around your son's age...

Thank you for sharing...such a sweet story about the Teddy...
Enjoy your alone time... they'll be having an exciting time, and will be home soon.
