Just some random crap...
Edited on Thu Jul-23-09 11:40 PM by LeftyFingerPop
1) My grocery store sells canvas bags for $1...reusable shopping bags. I'm in the express lane the other day, and there was a lady ahead, and no exaggeration, I bet she was 100 years old.

No one was with her, which amazed me, I wonder if she drove there? She was so frail that she could barely lift her groceries from the cart to the belt, so I helped her.

The lady asked if she wanted paper or plastic...she said plastic. So I asked her if she would like to keep my canvas bag. She asked me how much I wanted for it...I told her "no charge...I have about 30 of them at home". You would have thought I had given her a million bucks.

2) Walking into a pizza joint the other day....a young woman and young man were exiting. I held the door and let them by. They both smiled and said thank you, I said you're welcome.

So I'm still holding the door and a young man is walking behind me, shuffling his feet, looking down, entering the store also. He was a good 20 feet away, but I still held the door. He did not acknowledge me or say thanks. He follows me in....as I'm waiting for my meatball sub, he asks the owner for an application. The owner smiles and says "here you are young man". The guy says "ok" and shuffles out the door with it.

The owner looks at me and rolls his eyes and days...."happens all the time"...."hard to find anyone decent".

Ok...that's the end of my random crap.

1. ok...maybe it is just me
but, for the sake of truth in advertising you need to add the word "sad" to your subject line....

3. The first one was not sad...
The lady was happy that I gave her the bag. She did not look destitute or anything, just surprised that someone would offer.

The second thing was very bewildering...when I was his age going for a job, you had to dress good, be polite, etc.

2. I find that a please and thank you goes a long way.
Thank you for helping the older lady.

She was someone's mother or grandmother.

6. You were fishing today and caught some carp?
I hear it's pretty good sauteed, with a bit a garlic, salt and pepper.

7. You're so sweet....
The little lady appreciates life's priceless treasures...random acts of kindness.
I hope having hope for the young man is enough....he is in need of more than a job. I hope his life gets better.

And hope you're having a good night...

Thank you for sharing...

peace~

8. Thank you for reading, Dystopian...
The feeling that I got from the young man was that perhaps his parents were forcing him to get a job, and he was not too happy about it.

I'm having a restless night....I hope you are having a good night! :loveya:

11. I hope you're right....
About the young man...being forced to get a job isn't the end of the world....although he wouldn't know that.
Looking down, not acknowledging anyone and shuffling through life in that moment just sounds sad...reminds me of a young man I know...when he was younger..
Sorry you're feeling restless...
Seems like we're both in the same restless space...and I'm certain that many could join us...
Oh life!
But there's tomorrow...
Oh...it's here...now!:-)
I kind of like it when it's today and tomorrow at the same time...
Moving in slo-mo....

Hope you can settle in a bit...I'll try too...

peace~

12. My guess...
"Seems like we're both in the same restless space...and I'm certain that many could join us..."

I think you are correct...especially on DU...the silent souls of DU...those who read every post, but never say a word.

Those of us who go through the horrible things that life throws us...without saying a word.

And the transition between today and tomorrow is indeed very pleasant...

15. That was nice of you to give the lady a bag
You know on my ambulance run we used to do non emergency transports. We took this lady in for treatment on her birthday (we knew this because of our information). We picked up a birthday card for her, to give her on the return trip. She lived alone and the card brought tears to her eyes.
