Rockford Files theme for general use
"Buffy the Vampire" theme for my SO (our favorite show)

Theme from "Friends" for the people I like to hear from

Penn State Fight Song for my friends from school I rarely hear from

"Simple Gifts" for the people from my Friends Meeting (yes, I know the difference between Quakers and Shakers, but still)

"Crazy" for my Dad (the new one, not the Patsy Cline one)

"Turkey in the Straw" done in turkey gobbbles for my idiot redneck brother

Makes life so much easier to have some idea whose calling before I even reach into my purse. I LOVE ringtones for that reason.

It used to be Honky Tonk Badonkadonk, but it was always too loud and sometime embarrassing. I switched it to some generic random guitar strumming. Boring. I might switch it back, but no one ever calls me so it's kind of moot.

It's a shame I don't take a lot of calls on my cell-phone just because I like my ring-tone so much.

Edit: Ring tone--not ring-tome. A "Book on tape", for example Bridges of Madison County, would not be any kind of good ring tone.

59. Generic phone calls: "Atomic Dog" (George Clinton).
Work email: "Ain't nuthin' but a 'G' Thang" by Dr. Dre (brief snippet)
Personal email: Opening chimes from "Lucy in the Sky" ("Beatles")
Text message: Pacman opening noise (sound machine makes when you put a quarter in)
Phone call from wife: Opening from "Hello Goodbye" (Beatles)
Phone call from a Boston native friend: "Dirty Water" (Standells)

etc. etc.

What can I say I love playing with ringtones.

If you use the freeware audacity program, you can chop up .mp3 songs into whatever sections you want for your ringtone. It also converts files like Apple's .m4p files into .mp3 format too.

My phone allows me to import these files directly from the computer to phone and use them as ringtones, so I have fun creating custom ringtones for almost all my friends and family.

62. It's a kind of low funky rhythm track...
I have no idea if it has a name. It could be just the bass track of a George Clinton piece. Anyway, it's low and funky, doesn't sound like any other cellphone ring I've ever heard (so I always know it's me) and it was the first thing the man at the cellphone store played for me. YES! I said. Sold!
I'm not exactly somebody you'd pick out of a crowd as a Parliament/Funkadelic fan, being a vaguely Waspy white lady in my '60's so I get some funny looks occasionally.

64. I have a recording of my daughter saying, "Mom, answer your phone, Mom. MOM! ANSWER THE PHONE!"
It always makes me laugh and oddly enough, I hear it when I wouldn't hear other ring tones. My phone rang the other day at the grocery store and some lady was right next to me when it rang. She started laughing.

Silliness, I know, but a whole lot more fun than some lame snippet of a midi tune.

You know, it rings like a phone - no songs, no quotes, nothing that wears thin on others after the first play.
