The poor kid in front of me didn't have enough $$ for her helmet sundae.
So I did what any decent human being would do - I made up the difference and didn't tell her.

No kudos necessary. Just pointing out what any decent human being would do.

What else would any decent human being do?

4. Like you, I don't concern myself with how folks spend the money I give them.
The recipient likely knows a great deal more about his/her needs than I do.

12. You did good.
The kid will remember this and help someone else one day.

When I was a little kid a kind person helped me out at a Burger King, I had lost a dollar bill somewhere.

I never forgot that.

What goes around, comes around.

15. very cool
I remember a guy coming in to a grocery store to return the groceries because he needed the $$ for something else. The man behind him paid for them after he was gone and then the clerk ran outside with the groceries to give them back to the guy. There are good people in this world, like you - Bertha, and it's very heartening.

So few people do things like that anymore but some still do and are appreciated.

I've been known to do similar things on occasion. And to help little old ladies load their groceries in there cars when I see them shopping alone. Especially one who had a huge watermelon down in the basket of her cart. This was at an Aldi's so no assistance with stuff like that and I had no idea how she was supposed to get it out of there.

I think it's important to try to set the example for people who might think about doing the same or similar the next time they see someone needing something rather than deride them for holding up the line.

:hi:
