Do you avoid clicking on video news stories because of the commercial
you are forced to see at the beginning? I almost never click on them anymore, most of the time they aren't worth the bother/wait anyway.

1. I never do. You have to wait up to 30 seconds, and then you will get
the video of a talking head. Just give me the written story.

2. I avoid clicking on video news stories, period.
I like to read my news, even if I have to go to multiple sources to get a clear picture.

But I almost never get my news from a news-talker.

3. I hate when yahoo has a news story up but they make it only available in video clip form
Its so annoying. I dont want to click on the damn video already! I get to wait 30 seconds for it to start plus some advertising and probably a 2 min clip that wasnt any good anyway. I could have been done with it in 20 seconds if it was a paragraph.

6. It pisses me off..I will see an interesting title to a news story..
and then click on it to only find out it's a video. I would rather read the story than wait for a damn video to load. Even with a fast computer and broadband I still wont hang around to watch a news video.

7. I avoid almost all videos because I have glacially slow dial-up
I also hate when people post a link to a video with no explanation. It might be the funniest thing ever but I'm not going to look unless I have some idea if the wait and slow down of my connection is worth it.

I hate my dial up but satellite is still too much.:(

8. I refuse to click on them at all
I don't need some chirpy news anchor dumbing shit down for me. Yahoo - STOP DOING THIS. Everything on the "news" page should be a link to a text article. If they must have video stories, then have a separate page for news videos. Ugh, those things are a huge pet peeve of mine.

9. I rarely click on them - pretty much only for fluff pieces that I'm idly curious about
Three reasons: 1) the commercial, 2) they're ususally dumbed down, and 3) if I wanted to watch TV I would.

It seems that the video clip approach is often just a forced attempt to 'synergistically blend platforms for maximizing market penetration' or whatever the BS (i.e. business speak) justification would be. IOW, they do it because it's cool/new/edgy and not because it enhances the story...
