The most heart breaking lyrics ever,,,,,,,,,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoDDnOUKDQI

When he was a kid, he'd be up at five
Take shots till eight, make the thing drive
Out after school, back on ice
That was his life, he was gonna play in the Big League
The Big League

Not many ways out of this cold northern town
You work in the mill and get laid in the ground
If you're gonna jump it will be with the game
Real fast and tough is the only clear lane to the Big League

My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna turn some heads
My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna knock 'em dead
The Big League

All the right moves when he turned eighteen
Scholarship and school on a big U.S. team
Out with his girl near Lake McClean
Hit a truck doing seventy in the wrong lane
To the Big League

My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna turn some heads
My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna knock 'em dead

Never can tell what might come down
Never can tell how much you get
Just don't know, no you never can tell

Sometimes at night I can hear the ice crack
It sounds like thunder and it rips through my back
Sometimes in the morning I still hear the sound
Ice meets metal...
"Can't you drive me down to the Big League?"

My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna turn some heads
My boy's gonna play in the Big League
My boy's gonna knock 'em dead

Never can tell what might come down
Never can tell when you might check out
Just don't know, no you never can tell
So do right to others like you do to yourself
In the Big League

1. The Last Song - Miguel Hernandez
(Cancion ultima)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Pm-cQ9xQnE

Painted, not empty:
my house is painted
in the colors
of great passions and tragedies.

That empty dinner table,
and that noisy bed will return
from the tears to which
they were taken.

Kisses will blossom on the pillows,
And sheets will rise over bodies
entangled like vines
nocturnal and perfumed.

Hatred will vanish
behind the windows.

Claws will be softened.

Leave me hope, at least.

- Miguel Hernandez

(Written to his wife, in the prison from which he never returned)

2. Sorry if it brings you sadness
Maybe this can cheer you up a bit.

Glory Days. :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOpIfbneeHg
I had a friend was a big baseball player
back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside sat down had a few drinks
but all he kept talking about was

Chorus:
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Well there's a girl that lives up the block
back in school she could turn all the boy's heads
Sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by
and have a few drinks after she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband Bobby well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times,
she says when she feels like crying
she starts laughing thinking about

Chorus

My old man worked 20 years on the line
and they let him go
Now everywhere he goes out looking for work
they just tell him that he's too old
I was 9 nine years old and he was working at the
Metuchen Ford plant assembly line
Now he just sits on a stool down at the Legion hall
but I can tell what's on his mind

Glory days yeah goin back
Glory days aw he ain't never had
Glory days, glory days

Now I think I'm going down to the well tonight
and I'm going to drink till I get my fill
And I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about it
but I probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
a little of the glory of, well time slips away
and leaves you with nothing mister but
boring stories of glory days

With a nod to Didacus of Alcalá

35. People can interpret things as they choose.
For me the interpretation is different then for you.

(assuming your interpretation from the picture you posted)

I don't think it has to do with the diabetic helicopter pilot from the series MASH, that flipped needles at oranges. Hawkeye, from the last of the mohicans figured that out also.

38. i didn't post a picture.
there's a picture connected to my signature line, but i didn't post any pics in response to your post.

the point is- sprinsteen is an idiot if he thinks that the term "speedball" has any meaning as far as a baseball pitch is concerned.

That correlating information was the only way I could guess at your interpretation.

Although it might not be your interpretation. And it is not my interpretation.

What Springsteen might think the song means, is not the only thing the song might mean. There are many examples of people saying something thinking it means one thing, when it might mean something else to many other people.

making him a moran in that respect.

and if you're going to post on this forum- you should really learn the difference between signature lines and post content.

42. If the picture might, matches, part the topic, then why would it differ?
Edited on Mon Jul-27-09 04:12 PM by RandomThoughts
And people can use many different terms for many different things, and assemble many different meanings. Just because you have a meaning does not mean it means the same thing to different people. and words have many meanings, some might mean one thing at one time, and mean something else at another time,

and calling him a moran is just mean.

On a side note, what is your interpretation of moran? :)

Edit: commas added to title to add meaning, could also say 'if the picture might match part of the topic, then why would it differ.' Notice how context effects meaning.

46. the signature line does not change from post to post.
the signature line is the small grey type at the bottom- if a picture is attached to it, the type starts to the left of the image.
-just for future reference.

as far as why springsteen is a moran(just the way we say moron) for using 'speedball' in the context that he did is because it isn't a baseball term in that context- there is a 'version' of baseball called 'speedball'- but that has nothing to do with how the ball is pitched or thrown. nobody associated with baseball would ever describe a pitch using the word 'speedball'.

51. But for me your signature pic was only needed for this thread.
So from my context that is how it is different.

But to joke along with you, on the topic, even though I disagree with it.

And to lighten things up with a bit of comedy. Since day to day news cycles, and topics of those that think on money in other threads, get a bit stale.

A scene from Cannonball Run.

OK back on topic, I really am not that worried about what he was thinking, I like the song for my own reasons, but usually think of parts of it applied to others, some to self.

possibly speedball fits better then fastball in the rhythm of the song.

3. 'Alone Again, Naturally'
Easily one of the most depressing songs ever...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_P-v1BVQn8

In a little while from now
If I’m not feeling any less sour
I promise myself to treat myself
And visit a nearby tower
And climbing to the top will throw myself off
In an effort to make it clear to who
Ever what it’s like when you’re shattered
Left standing in the lurch at a church
Where people saying: "My God, that’s tough
She's stood him up"
No point in us remaining
We may as well go home
As I did on my own
Alone again, naturally

To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay
Looking forward to well wouldn’t do
The role I was about to play
But as if to knock me down
Reality came around
And without so much, as a mere touch
Cut me into little pieces
Leaving me to doubt
Talk about God and His mercy
Or if He really does exist
Why did He desert me in my hour of need
I truly am indeed Alone again, naturally

It seems to me that there are more hearts
broken in the world that can’t be mended
Left unattended
What do we do? What do we do?

Alone again, naturally
Now looking back over the years
And whatever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears
And at sixty-five years old
My mother, God rest her soul,
Couldn’t understand why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
Leaving her to start with a heart so badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken
And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally

18. That really haunted me as a young child.
I guess I should take comfort that my former wife didn't leave me at the altar (I'm not sure that my becoming the victim of domestic battery after 12 years of marriage is any better, but at least it wasn't the same as the song), and that my mother did remarry after my father died at 61.

But yeah, I had nightmares about that song.

4. I'm going straight to hell
I grew up just west of the tracks
holding me to hold me back
around your door
she's calling out my name

she said "son won't you go outside
I've got a man coming over tonight
The 7th one in 7 days"

So I go down
to the parking lot
and hang around
all my friends
And roam the street 'till dawn
breaks again

I come in at five am
and she is waitin' for me
she said, "where have you been?"
I said,
"I WAS OUT"
she said, "you're no good 'cause
you're runnin' without love"

I'm going straight to hell
just like my mama said
I'm going straight to hell

The black widow and the
ladies man
met down at the laundromat
AND TRIED TO MAKE me
understand

the neighbors were
all in a stir
about what they might have heard
and runnin' down they shouted out
it seemed

next door a girl she lives
about the same age as me
and asked me to come upstairs
for a see

just then her mother burst in
said, "you're the son of that
bitch in the wind
get outta my house
hit the road"
I kept fallin' like a
ROLLING STONES SONG

I'm going straight to hell
just like my mama said
I'm going straight to hell

The stars came out
and warned me so
as i walked on down
the road
fifty bucks and a suitcase
steered me clear

She took my hand
as we walked into the sun
a new days promise had
begun
we'll make it alone
whether you like it or not
I turned and shouted

HELP ME MOTHER

I'm going straight to hell
just like my mama said
I'm going straight to hell

MOTHER
LOVE HER
WON'T YOU LET ME GO

6. "I am an old woman named after my mother"
I am an old woman named after my mother
My old man is another child that's grown old
If dreams were thunder and lightning was desire
This old house would have burnt down a long time ago

Make me an angel that flies from montgom'ry
Make me a poster of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing that I can hold on to
To believe in this living is just a hard way to go

When I was a young girl well, I had me a cowboy
He weren't much to look at, just free rambling man
But that was a long time and no matter how I try
The years just flow by like a broken down dam.

Make me an angel that flies from montgom'ry
Make me a poster of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing that I can hold on to
To believe in this living is just a hard way to go

There's flies in the kitchen I can hear 'em there buzzing
And I ain't done nothing since I woke up today.
How the hell can a person go to work in the morning
And come home in the evening and have nothing to say.

Make me an angel that flies from montgom'ry
Make me a poster of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing that I can hold on to
To believe in this living is just a hard way to go

7. Something about this one has always got to me.
I guess it's the way it starts out so nice then, then an instant sad ending.

http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/Catch_the_Rainbow/14491850

Catch the Rainbow
by Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow

When evening falls
She'll run to me
Like whispered dreams
Your eyes can't see
Soft and warm
She'll touch my face
A bed of straw
Against the lace

We believed we'd catch the rainbow
Ride the wind to the sun
Sail away on ships of wonder

But life's not a wheel
With chains made of steel
So bless me

Come the dawn
Come the dawn
Come the dawn
Come the dawn

We believed we'd catch the rainbow
Ride the wind to the sun
And sail away on ships of wonder

But life's not a wheel
With chains made of steel
So bless me, oh bless me, bless me

Come the dawn
Come the dawn
Come the dawn
Come the dawn

8. "Mother" -John Lennon
Mother, you had me but I never had you,
I wanted you but you didn't want me,
So I got to tell you,
Goodbye, goodbye.

Farther, you left me but I never left you,
I needed you but you didn't need me,
So I got to tell you,
Goodbye, goodbye.

Children, don't do what I have done,
I couldn't walk and I tried to run,
So I got to tell you,
Goodbye, goodbye.

Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home...

9. Bird on a Wire?
combined with the music can be a real downer if you have had a few too many drinks...

kd lang singing it here
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-_rf6OFPIM1M/k_d_lang_bird_in_a_wire_subtitulado_en_espa_ol/

Like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
Like a worm on a hook,
Like a knight from some old fashioned book
I have saved all my ribbons for thee.
If i, if I have been unkind,
I hope that you can just let it go by.
If i, if I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you.

Like a baby, stillborn,
Like a beast with his horn
I have torn everyone who reached out for me.
But I swear by this song
And by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to thee.
I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch,
He said to me, you must not ask for so much.
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door,
She cried to me, hey, why not ask for more?

Oh like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choirhave tried in my way to be free.

Lyrics/Leonard Cohen,,, but you knew that

11. at seventeen
I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired.
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth.
And those of us with ravaged faces
Lacking in the social graces
Desperately remained at home
Inventing lovers on the phone
Who called to say come dance with me
and murmured vague obscenities
It isn't all it seems
At seventeen.
A brown eyed girl in hand me downs
Whose name I never could pronounce
said, Pity please the ones who serve
They only get what they deserve.
The rich relationed hometown queen
Married into what she needs
A guarantee of company
And haven for the elderly.
Remember those who win the game
Lose the love they sought to gain
Indebentures of quality
And dubious integrity.
Their small town eyes will gape at you
in dull surprise when payment due
Exceeds accounts received
At seventeen.
To those of us who know the pain
Of valentines that never came,
And those whose names were never called
When choosing sides for basketball.
It was long ago and far away
The world was younger than today
And dreams were all they gave for free
To ugly duckling girls like me.
We all play the game and when we dare
To cheat ourselves at solitaire
Inventing lovers on the phone
Repenting other lives unknown
That call and say, come dance with me
and murmur vague obscenities
At ugly girls like me
At seventeen

12. Red River Valley by Arlo Guthrie
From this valley they say you are going
We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile
For they say you are taking the sunshine
That has brightened our pathways awhile

Come and sit by my side, if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy who loved you so true

I've been thinking a long time, my darling
Of the sweet words you never would say
Now, alas, must my fond hopes all vanish
For they say you are gong away

Do you think of the valley you're leaving
O how lonely and how dreary it will be
And do you think of the kind hearts you're breaking
And the pain you are causing to me

Come and sit by my side, if you love me
Do not hasten to bid me adieu
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy who loved you so true

They will bury me where you have wandered
Near the hills where the daffodils grow
When you're gone from the Red River Valley
For I can't live without you I know

There are a lot of dark/sad versions of this song though. It really has an amazing history.

16. Ah, here's one: He Stopped Loving Her Today
HE STOPPED LOVING HER TODAY
Written by R. V. Braddock and C. Putman, Jr.
Performed by George Jones
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz2aNifcy20

He said I'll love you 'til I die
She told him you'll forget in time
As the years went slowly by
She still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall
Went half crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all
Hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed
Dated 1962
He had underlined in red
Every single I love you

I went to see him just today
Oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away
First time I'd seen him smile in years

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

You know she came to see him one last time
Oh and we all wondered if she would
And it kept running through my mind
This time he's over her for good

17. This is the saddest of all. Neil Diamond.
(What a mood I must be in to keep finding these.)

SHILO (great vintage Neil Diamond)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98mxTslGjbs

Young child with dreams
Dream ev'ry dream on your own
When children play
seems like you end up alone
Papa says he'd love to be with you
If he had the time
So you turn on the only friend you can find
There in your mind

Shilo, when I was young
I used to call you name
When no one else would come
Shilo, you always came
And we'd play

Counting the years
keeping my dreams to myself
Till a young girl with fire
made me trust somebody else

Held my hand out, and I let her take me
Blind as a child
All I saw was the way that she made me smile
She made me smile

Shilo, when I was young
I used to call you name
When no one else would come
Shilo, you always came
But you'd stay

Had a dream, and it filled me with wonder
She had other plans
"Got to go, Said she know that you'll understand"
I understand

Shilo, when I was young
I used to call you name
When no one else would come
Shilo, you always came
Come today

Had a dream, and it filled me with wonder
She had other plans
"Got to go,Said she know that you'll understand"
I understand

Shilo, when I was young
I used to call you name
When no one else would come
Shilo, you always came
Come today

20. Mother of a Miner's Child - Gordon Lightfoot
She is my flower
And she blooms for the one who loves her best
The miners stop to watch as she walks
They know her love is not for sale
She will never fail me 'cause I know
I watch her grow
And the mother of a miner's child
Waits for me beside the kitchen door

She is my light
In this place where the darkness never ends
She'll guide me where the tunnels twist and bend
She's the only one who listens when I tell her
I got less than I can spend
She knows the pace
Oh mother of a miner's child
Was away the coal dust from my face

When the night shift's done
She'll be waiting by the table when I come
Searchin' for another dream to chase
Oh mother of a miner's child
I know that you still think about the day
When we'll be movin' on
Remember dear old Daddy and
The promise that I made to carry on

Sometimes I smile
In the cage where the cables softly hum
I'd curse that old straw boss to the bone
But the mother of a miner's child
Is waiting for her paycheck to come home
Come Saturday
And he is just a miner's boy
I hope that he will find a better way

She is my flower
And she blooms for the one who loves her best
The miners stop to watch as she walks
They know her love is not for sale
She will never fail me 'cause I know
I watch her grow
And the mother of a miner's child
Waits for me beside the kitchen door

21. These sad songs are addicting....one more. Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Sometimes in Winter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efRUfWvpX3Q

I gaze into the streets
and walk through snow and city sleet
behind your room

Sometimes in Winter
forgotten memories
remember you behind the trees
with leaves that cried

By the window once I waited for you
laughing slightly you would run
trees alone would shield us in the meadow
makin' love in the evening sun

Now you're gone girl
and the lamp posts call your name
I can hear them
in the spring of frozen rain

Now you're gone girl
and the times slow down till dawn
It's a cold room
and the walls ask where you've gone

Sometimes wn winter
I love you when the good times
seem like memories in the spring
that never came

Sometimes in winter
I wish the empty streets
would fill with laughter from the tears
that ease my pain

22. They Call Her Easy - Harry Chapin
It was just another night
and I was out on a limb
looking for someone
to help me back in.
A couple of hours of cruising around
brought me into a bar
and I sat me down
nothing much to be found.
So I got in to talking to the old bar man
he said:
"You got a problem I can understand
and I know a little lady
who is all alone.
If you find her she will take you home.
She don't like to spend her nights alone!"
They call her Easy.
They say it's not a way for a body to be.
They call her Easy.
She is giving out her love for free.
I found her on the street
like the bartender said.
She was not great looking
but not that bad.
Walked on up to her
and didn't say a word
but my eyes were talking
and I think she heard.
Yes, she heard me.
We walked down the road
to a rundown farm.
She lit a couple of candles
and she held out her arms.
Lord, she was gentle as a windblown sigh
in the morning while dressing I could hear her cry.
She was crying and I went flying out of there.
The next day found me walking in ton.
Saw the old bartender and I flagged him down.
I thanked him for the girl
and told him that she pleased me
and laughed a little bit
about how she was easy.
But the old man stopped me
with the look in his eye.
He said,
"You know I had hoped
you weren't that kind of guy.
Dream of the kind of world it could be
if we were with our loves like Easy"
It's a hard world we must learn to be easy.
In a cold world I must love the ones who please me
Easy!

25. "When October Goes" -lyrics by Johnny Mercer
And when October goes
The snow begins to fly
Above the smokey roofs
I watch the planes go by

The children running home
Beneath a twilight sky
Oh, for the fun of them
When I was one of them

And when October goes
The same old dream appears
And you are in my arms
To share the happy years

I turn my head away
To hide the helpless tears
Oh how I hate to see October go

I should be over it now I know
It doesn't matter much
How old I grow
I hate to see October go

45. I figured that divulging that information would bias many from seeking it out...
...to give it a listen.

Best recorded version I've heard is by Nancy Wilson, which I couldn't find on YouTube.

If I have the time maybe I'll put together a crude vid to upload it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mo7p7ictF8&feature=related
John Prine

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-fc2j38Ab4&feature=related0
Johnny Cash's performance

Sam Stone came home,
To his wife and family
After serving in the conflict overseas.
And the time that he served,
Had shattered all his nerves,
And left a little shrapnel in his knee.
But the morphine eased the pain,
And the grass grew round his brain,
And gave him all the confidence he lacked,
With a Purple Heart and a monkey on his back.

Chorus:
There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes,
Jesus Christ died for nothin' I suppose.
Little pitchers have big ears,
Don't stop to count the years,
Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios.
Mmm....

Sam Stone's welcome home
Didn't last too long.
He went to work when he'd spent his last dime
And Sammy took to stealing
When he got that empty feeling
For a hundred dollar habit without overtime.
And the gold rolled through his veins
Like a thousand railroad trains,
And eased his mind in the hours that he chose,
While the kids ran around wearin' other peoples' clothes...

Repeat Chorus:

Sam Stone was alone
When he popped his last balloon
Climbing walls while sitting in a chair
Well, he played his last request
While the room smelled just like death
With an overdose hovering in the air
But life had lost its fun
And there was nothing to be done
But trade his house that he bought on the G. I. Bill
For a flag draped casket on a local heroes' hill.

Repeat Chorus

28. Seasons in the Sun.
Gee, sad songs keep popping into my head. Can't stay away from this thread.

Terry Jacks
SEASONS IN THE SUN
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYOD2Wg_Ymc

Goodbye to you
My trusted friend

We've known each other since we were nine or te
Together we've climbed hills and trees

Learned of love and A-B-C's

Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye
My friend
It's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky;
Now that the spring is in the air

Pretty girls are ev'rywhere
Think of me and I'll be there.

We had joy
We had fun

We had seasons in the sun;
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time.

Goodbye
Papa
Please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family;
You tried to teach me right from wrong

Too much wine and too much song

Wonder how I got along.
Goodbye
Papa
It's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky;
Now that the spring is in the air

Little children ev'rywhere
When you'll see them
I'll be there.

We had joy
We had fun

We had seasons in the sun;
But the wine and the song
Like the seasons have all gone.

Goodbye
Michelle
My little one

You gave me love and helped me find the sun;
And ev'ry time that I was down
You would always come around
And get my feet back on the ground.
Goodbye
Michelle
It's hard to die

When all the birds are singing in the sky;

Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers ev'rywhere;
I wish that we could both be there.

We had lives
We had fun

We had seasons in the sun;
But the stars we could reach
Were just star-fish on the beach.

30. newer: Wake me up when September Ends (Green Day)
"Wake Me Up When September Ends"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5psSthgd-s&feature=related

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends

like my father's come to pass
seven years has gone so fast
wake me up when September ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when September ends

summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends

ring out the bells again
like we did when spring began
wake me up when September ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when September ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when September ends

like my father's come to pass
twenty years has gone so fast
wake me up when September ends
wake me up when September ends
wake me up when September ends

36. "Joan" by Butch Walker
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypeudA2MNIc

Joan moved away to Colorado
Said she found God and a boyfriend as well
One that won't hit her or make her feel shallow
There's a lot to learn about Joan

Before I moved in Joan had a fling with the landlord
So she got to stay here for free
And I'm not a genius but I figured out
There's a lot to learn from Joan

And after all this time, you were waiting on the ride
To stop at the place where they slowly misplaced your life...
Go get it right

I went to the closet to get dressed for work
When I spotted a box I had not seen before
With all kinds of letters that never got sent
To a guy in Colorado since 1994
And I know it's wrong
But I sat and opened
In no certain order a letter or two
She talked about blisters and bruises of anger
And she bought a handgun to learn how to shoot

And the last letter said that she had to get out
But I couldn't make out the rest of the note
From the blood stains all over the page of the letters
There's a lot to learn
And there's a lot I learned about Joan

And after all this time, you were waiting on the ride
To stop at the place where you slowly misplaced your life
Oh and after all this time, you were waiting on the ride
To stop at the place where they slowly misplaced your life...
Go get it right
Go get it right
Go get it right
Go get it right

48. "Be Human" - Yoko Kanno
Edited on Mon Jul-27-09 06:11 PM by sakabatou
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/392073/2326442

I analyze and I verify and I quantify enough
100 percentile no errors no miss
I synchronize and I specialize and I classify so much
Don't worry 'bout dreaming because I don't sleep --

I wish I could at least 30 percent
Maybe 50 for pleasure then skip all the rest

If I only was more human
I would count every single second the rest of my life
If I just could be more human
I'd have so many little babies and maybe a wife

I'd roll around in mud and have lots of fun then when I was done
Build bubblebath towers and swim in the tub
Sand Castles on the beach, frolick in the sea, get a broken knee
Be scared of the dark and I'd sing out of key

Curse when I lost a fight, kiss and reunite, scratch a spider's bite
Be happy with wrinkles I got when I smile
Pet kittens 'till they purred, maybe keep a bird, always keep my word
I'd cry at sad movies and laugh 'till it hurt

I'd buy a big bike, I'd ride by the lake
And I'd have lots of friends and I'd stay out too late

If I could just be more human
I would see every little thing with a gleam in my eye
If only I was more human
I'd embrace every single feeling that came in my life

Would I care and be forgiving?
Would I be sentimental and would I feel loneliness?

Would I doubt and have misgivings?
Would I cause someone sorrow too? Would I know what to do?

Will I cry when its all over?

When I die will I see Heaven?

You're Not Standing Like You Used To Lyrics & Video
Kate Wolf See albums and popular songs

YOU’RE NOT STANDING LIKE YOU USED TO

Wish I could tell you how I feel tonight
It’s been so long since I’ve seen you
You haven’t said but I can see so plain
Something’s been on your mind again
Cuz you’re not standing like you used to
Your clothes are fitting you looser and
There’s a tired shadow hiding in your eyes
And you’re looking like you could use a friend.
And wish I could make you happy some way
That would be a lie and you know it
Find what you really care about
And live a life that shows it
You’re not standing like you used to
Your clothes are fitting you looser and
There’s a tired shadow hiding in your eyes
And you’re looking like you could use a friend.
Wish I could say that I thought things would change.
You’ve had so many try to love you
Too many years thinking you could see it all
Until a woman saw right through you.
You’re not standing like you used to
Your clothes are fitting you looser and
There’s a tired shadow hiding in your eyes
And you’re looking like you could use a friend.

50. Neil Diamond - Brooklyn Roads (Live 1971)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Yl77_BDuk&feature=related

Written by: neil diamond

If I close my eyes
I can almost hear my mother
Callin, neil, go find your brother
Daddys home, and its time for supper
Hurry on

And I see two boys
Racin up two flights of staircase
Squirmin into papas embrace
And his whiskers warm on their face
Wheres it gone
Oh, wheres it gone

Two floors above the butcher
First door on the right
Life filled to the brim
As I stood by my window
And looked out on those
Brooklyn roads

I can still recall
The smell of cookin in the hallways
Rubber drying in the doorways
And report cards I was always
Afraid to show

Mamad come to school
And as Id sit there softly crying
Teacherd say, hes just not trying
Hes got a good head if hed apply it
But you know yourself
Its always somewhere else

I built me a castle
With dragons and kings
And Id ride off with them
As I stood by my window
And looked out on those
Brooklyn roads

Thought of going back
But all Id see are strangers faces
And all the scars that love erases
But as my mind walks thru those places
Im wonderin
Whats come of them

Does some other young boy
Come home to my room
Does he dream what I did
As he stands by my window
And looks out on those
Brooklyn roads

http://www.rhapsody.com/beth-nielsen-chapman/sand-and-water

Sand And Water lyrics

All alone I didn't like the feeling
All alone I sat and cried
All alone I had to find some meaning
In the center of the pain I felt inside
All alone I came into this world
All alone I will someday die
Solid stone is just sand and water, baby
Sand and water, and a million years gone by
I will see you in the light of a thousand suns
I will hear you in the sound of the waves
I will know you when I come, as we all will come
Through the doors beyond the grave
All alone I heal this heart of sorrow
All alone I raise this child
Flesh and bone, he's just
Bursting towards tomorrow
And his laughter fills my world and wears your smile
All alone I came into this world
All alone I will someday die
Solid stone is just sand and water, baby
Sand and water, and a million years gone by

53. This one always makes me cry:
What happened here
As the New York sunset disappeared
I found an empty garden among the flagstones there

Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And now it all looks strange
It's funny how one insect can damage so much grain

And what's it for
This little empty garden by the brownstone door
And in the cracks along the sidewalk nothing grows no more

Who lived here
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
And we are so amazed we're crippled and we're dazed
A gardener like that one no one can replace

And I've been knocking but no one answers
And I've been knocking most all the day
Oh and I've been calling oh hey hey Johnny
Can't you come out to play

And through their tears
Some say he farmed his best in younger years
But he'd have said that roots grow stronger if only he could hear

Who lived there
He must have been a gardener that cared a lot
Who weeded out the tears and grew a good crop
Now we pray for rain, and with every drop that falls
We hear, we hear your name

Johnny can't you come out to play in your empty garden

http://sniff.numachi.com/pages/tiHIGHMARY%3BttHIGHMARY.html

Wi' mony a vow, and lock'd embrace,
Our parting was fu'tender;
And pledging aft to meet again,
We tore oursels asunder:
But Oh, fell Death's untimely frost,
That nipt my Flower sae early!
Now green's the sod, and cauld's the clay,
That wraps my Highland Mary!

0 pale, pale now, those rosy lips
I aft hae kiss'd sae fondly!
And clos'd for ay, the sparkling glance,
That dwalt on me sae kindly!
And mouldering now in silent dust,
That heart that lo'ed me dearly!
But still within my bosom's core
Shall live my Highland Mary.

Waaahhhhhhhhhhh!

59. "Hurt"
I'm partial to the one by Johnny Cash for some reason, odd since I love NIN.

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way
