2. As someone who was initially a big fan |
|
I have to  at this.
"Above the Law" was about extra-legal CIA ops... Good subject.
"Hard to Kill" was about corrupt cops. Old news, but okay.
"Marked for Death" was lame... Jamaican Voodoo Posses? I prefer the ones in Predator II.
"Out for Justice" just sucked.
"Under Siege" was mildly amusing (primarily because of Tommy Lee Jones).
"Fire Down Below" was ecological in origin and worth it for that alone.
I think for an action star, Seagal has done some decent stuff. At least he's not an asshat. I THINK he's a Buddhist in real life and I can respect that. But once he started hiring stunt-doubles to do things he could never do (like jumping kicks, for example) he definitely jumped the shark.
And, yes, I can offer an opinion on just about any martial arts star known to American cinema and his or her movies, choreography, skill level, and overall value as an icon.
I just got finished a couple of days ago explaining to my sons what kind of raging dumbass Chuck Norris is--and that's not even getting into the epic fail of choreography of STARTING a fight with a spinning back kick.

16. Yeah, I know something about the Hong Kong cinema, but I found it easier |
|
to keep track of the low-rent martial artist movies coming out of America... And the "artists."

5. Now the real question is |
|
who's better - Rolph Lundgren or Stephen Segal?
Or wait, there are a few others - Charles Bronson! Or hmmm....Chuck Norris. Oh well, Norris is a crazy RW douche. So he sucks....

Has been for a number of years now, and he still could out-act Steven Segal.

20. I have always loved Charles Bronson. |
|
Even when he was Charles Buchinski and played a prize fighter in "Pat and Mike." Yes, he was a supporting player in a Hepburn/Tracy movie. Ask me anything about old movies. Go ahead.

11. In the sense that, if we evaluate his entire oeuvre there are none that are lower than the others, |
|
then yes, he technically never made a "bad" movie... he's pretty consistent.
:P
Actually, I like his movies - he's a particularly cool kind of bad ass with his bone breaking moves and stoic look. But he does have a couple clunkers - the one on the ship with Tommy Lee Jones is a bit of a stinker, though Jones manages to hold it together with his brilliance.
