Julia Roberts is in an abusive, controlling relationship. Yet she's at least able to get out enough for her part time job at the library where she instead uses that time to learn to swim, etc. Since she's able to sneak away to learn to swim, that means the husband isn't so controlling that he drives her to the library. Now why doesn't she just drive away then instead of waiting for the off chance that he looks the other way while sailing? Wouldn't it be easier to build a cache of clothes and money in a locker somewhere and when you have enough just drive away?

1. Meh... at least it's not one of her retarded chick flicks...
... where she laughs like a baboon and falls down about 20 times.

4. I probably should have said "Romantic Comedies".
Either way, her movies are fucking horrible.

11. Hmm. About a guy who, in an opium haze, fantasizes about killing his girlfriend.
I suppose that's pretty appropriate to the film...

2. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I don't believe she has a car.
Maybe she takes the bus. I think the main thing is that she wanted him to believe she was dead, so he wouldn't come looking for her.

7. I saw that when it was in the theatre only 20 years ago...
Horrendous tedium back then that hasn't aged well.

The "story" grabs one by their emotional processor rather than their intellect. Maybe that's why I never cared for it... that and it was one walking cliche after another...

10. On the plus side, it is the basic prototype for every Lifetime movie ever made.
Well, that really isn't a plus.

9. What busted her is the trying fo flush her wedding band down the toilet
I'm sure she wasn't thinking when she did it but I would have checked and double checked to make sure that thing went down. I'm someone who checks the coffee pot at least 5 times before I leave the house though.

12. yeah, that was a slight oversight on her part, lol
of course it may have been all moot had that women not called the husband. From the sheets over everything, it looks as though he was trying to forget about her. Of course he probably would've found it eventually and by then it could've been worse becuse she would've had her guard down.
