5. A teachable moment
is a moment where circumstances illuminate an otherwise difficult to communicate concept. We often hear something described as a teachable moment when it isn't. To me teachable moments can be real and valuable.

6. I agree that this is what the term is meant to convey and I agree that there are
special and valuable circumstances in which teaching more fluidly takes place. It just strikes me as odd because the phrase seems to be describing a moment as something apt to learn or capable of learning, when in fact a moment cannot learn. Perhaps the term "teachable moment" expresses the second definition of "teachable" (2 :favorable to teaching) and not the first (1 a: capable of being taught b: apt and willing to learn). :hi:
