Anyone know anything about turntables?
Edited on Tue Jul-28-09 09:21 AM by Sugarcoated
The old fashioned record machine. :) It's not working . . . my daughter confessed she dusted the inside of it and it started to turn and she had trouble stopping it, thought she did, but wasn't sure. Could the belt have worn out? Does anyone have any knowledge on cost of fixing this kind of thing? It's her stepdad's and she wants to pay for it to be fixed.

It's always something. :eyes:

1. If it's a belt drive
The first thing is to check the belt. If the motor turns and the platter doesn't, chances are a new belt will fix it.

3. it depends
Depends on the particular turntable and parts availability etc. It could be pretty cheap to fix if that's the problem

5. I've been told it's best to get an old one fixed than to buy a new one. nt

About $100... some of them will even let you drop an iPod in and record direct to your iPod (if you have the right model).
