Any moms out there looking forward to sending their kids back to school?
I can't imagine how challenging this summer must have been for you all with school age children. Too cold or stormy to take the kids to the beach or park in the east, too hot in the west. Finding ways to deal with all of that summer energy. Finding ways to deal with the crankiness which cabin fever or heat brings. I've got to tell you my heart goes out to you. You must all be so sick of arts and crafts!!!

4. Let It Snow
You've got to read it! It's one of the essays by David Sedaris in Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. His mother finally locked the kids out of the house when they had a stretch of snow/ice days off from school. I'm not sure if I was identifying with the story because I was once a child or because I was once a mother of school-age kids. Either way, I'm still laughing a week after I read it.

5. I never understood that whole mentality. I like my kid and I enjoy spending time with him.
If I didn't want to be around my kid as often as possible I wouldn't have had one.

6. I like having my kids around.
They go back to school too soon where I live (a week from Monday), so I feel like summer flew by, visiting relatives in CT for 10 days, movies, hanging at home while they play. I know they get out earlier than most kids but it sucks they go back so soon---my son who is going into 3rd grade catches the bus at 7:30.
