4. semi round
}( with 2 inch underslung heels - ropers make me:puke:

now if you want to see POINTY, git on down into Chihuahua. Colors too. Mens.

gotta go to a meeting, I may have to take and post a pic later

see ya in a couple hours :hi:

ps

those square toes in your post are (70's!) truckers' boots not cowboys. No cowboys I know would have fake spur straps on their boots.

6. for me, it's the ropers, just cause they're the best for riding
yeah, you're right about that square ones, i had a similar thought, but they are clearly inspired by cowboys...off for a ride actually :hi:

24. see, now
I think ropers are for walking with that little bitty heel. I learned from old-timers: pointy toe for getting in stirrup and a good underslung heel to keep from going on through and getting hung up. Real cowboys don't walk, they stay on. hee hee

personally I like a little round on the toe because my feet are too big and that point starts interfering with other people's personal space

check out this hilarious picture. I like the vamp, toe, and heel. The uppers could be a little stiffer and have some better decoration, but check out the spurs:rofl:

at least they got the buckles on the insides:rofl:

Edited on Tue Jul-28-09 11:59 PM by mix
that 90% of western horse people, when riding, wear ropers...it's bizarre how universal they are in horse circles...i have a nice pair of Ariats, nothing fancy, shitkickers...the higher heels and pointy toes for some reason really impede my feel of the horse...and ropers just look better on a horse...you see a bit more boot variation among rodeo people.

34. I don't like cowboy boots for anything else though,
I don't wear them unless riding, I don't like walking in them. That must feel good to ride barefoot, never tried it! Watch the rocks and cacti.

edit to add - I am a rancher, but I love to wear the wrong "costume" to public meetings and such. Tevas and shorts, for example. I drive the neighbors crazy.

7. Depends on what statement you are trying to make...
#1 says "I'm a nerd, have no idea what a cow or horse is. But I want you to look at me."
#2 is very acceptable pair of ropers. See these all the time here in the southwest, and I have a pair that I wear in cool weather. In black, they work with business suits around these parts.
#3 Another good pair of boots, but they would demand a pair of long boot cut jeans, long enough that you walk on the hems.

8. Today I saw the most striking Native American man...
He was very tall and wore pointy-toed boots. He really was stunning; but not in the glam mag way. He just had such a commanding presence...a seriously magnetic personality. Whatever the male counterpart to a Diva is, that's what this guy is.

Just because of him, I vote for the pointy toes.

Seriously. The guy had to be close to 7 feet tall, with very dark skin and braids that fell to his shoulders and wrapped with leather.

Haven't worn them in about 4 years and never for "cowgirling"
Just had to go out and rustle our patio table with open umbrella that was trying to make an escape over the deck fence with all the wind we are having

27. best pair I ever wore were a cheap pair of acme's
from the 70's when they still made the uppers out of leather. God I loved those boots - actually wore them out. (and they were actually good to walk in too) they looked pretty much like these ariats with maybe another 1/2 inch on the heel and maybe a little taller uppers. Actually I can't see if they are underslung so take the silly spur boot pic and the heels off those.

38. Mine are pointy toed, partly made of ostrich, with the high heels and fancy
stitching in blue. They were handmade in Mexico, are over 16 years old. I just had them reconditioned last year at a local shoe maker's who told me he gets cowboy boots to be repaired from as far as California. He is a real craftsman - they look like new, feel better than ever, might outlive me. I love'em.
