Take a two gallon zip lock bag and put in it 2 or 3 inches of ice.

Close it up and use it as a pillow, there is plenty of air in the bag.

Place the ice on the back of your neck, it will cool you off.

I used this after Hurricane Ike, it worked very well.

1. put any fabric that may touch your body into the washing machine

fill just enough to get it wet then spin out. or just get in the shower with your clothes on. place yourself and damp fabric in front of a fan.

works great with sheets on the bed - if it dries too fast, use a big damp towel under your lower legs and feet, place fan at foot of bed. aaahhhhhh

2. Ice to the back of my neck really helps a lot.
Seems to turn my inner thermometer down about 10-15 degrees.

4. The cooling pillow was the only way I got any sleep after Ike.
During the day I kept a very wet and cold rag aroound my neck.

We were lucky that it was September, not August.

Gotta wall unit my brother rarely wants me to turn on. Has to be near 100 before he doesn't have a fit.

8. I feel for you. Any way to throw the brother a few summer bucks toward the electric so
you don't have to suffer?

9. Thank you for that
It is crazy hot and we don't have very much experience with it.
The animals around here are new to this too -
I put a light sprinkler out today and the finches were flying through and sitting under the water! The deer find a place to sit and just stay there.

I'll try the ice bag tonight. :hi:

10. Hope the ice bag helps.
We didn't have power for 2 weeks after Ike but the temps were a little cooler.

We just had our heat wave but we have ac and we can stand heat a lot better then y'all.

I understand about the birds, we didn't have rain for awhile and the birds loved the sprinkler here.

A good straw hat really helps.

As much as I hate the heat, I am glad that I can live with it.

Just stay as cool as you can, go to a place with ac if you have to.

Watch for heat stroke, it can happen really easy.

Hope the heat breaks soon.

12. Us southerners got really lucky this week. It is only about 90 here.
We have had a really cool July. June was hell, but July has been lovely. We'll see what August brings.
