1. If you have a Blu-ray player, pick up the new Woodstock
It has great audio. Richie Havens and Ten Yrs After are worth the price of the disc.

5. Rhapsody has the new 2-CD "Jefferson Airplane: The Woodstock Experience"
If you don't have an account, you can listen to 25 songs per month for free:

http://www.rhapsody.com/jefferson-airplane/jefferson-airplane-the-woodstock-experience

...and this CD has 24 tracks. Looks like the 2 CDs include the 2004 remaster of the "Volunteers" album plus the complete 13-song live set from Woodstock.

6. Amerigo...
I consider you the music maestro of this place. I think something special should be done for the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock. A seminal moment in my life. And, I wasn't there. Much to be discussed. I'm about to start Michael Lang's book. We're what. A little more than two weeks away? Tell me what you're thinking.

7. Simple...we hold Woodstock for 24 hours right here in the Lounge instead of on Yasgur's Farm
We re-post the list below (from Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodstock_Festival#Performing_artists_and_sequence_of_events) on the anniversary day and everyone participating in the thread gets to go to YouTube and hunt down the songs, checking for dupes before they do, and just like Woodstock, we jam from sunup to sundown.

They wouldn't have to be performances from Woodstock, but obviously, bonus points and high-fives to the people who post those clips.

THAT'S what I'm thinkin'...

8. God damn! You are the man, Amerigo.
Now, we get it to the masses. I'm looking forward to one hellacious weekend. Picking up the DVD on the 'morrow. Fuck. I've never seen that order of acts before. I've heard that Sebastian was thrown in on Friday to stall, because of the late arrivers. Yet, David Fricke of Rolling Stone, vividly remembers his tied-dyed shirt on Saturday. Now, I see the truth. Thank you, fine sir!

...and how cool would it be for DU...also a community event...to use history as a blank canvas to remix and repaint what was probably the single greatest concert of all time?

the moonshot, Manson, Vietnam. This is the one I remember. As I close in on a half-century on this earth- those four days are something special. The first album I ever listened to. Just getting pumped for it.

13. OK, well, let's fire it up at 11:59 PM on Friday August 14th...
...and keep it lit until 12:00 AM Sunday August 16th.

There's no way the entire performance can be posted in 24 hours, so there's no way we'll run out of great music.

We can also post photos of the performers, classic psychedelic posters from the era...

...it could turn into one legendary party thread.

Maybe a PSA in GD as we approach the historic event. Something along the lines of "bring your tents, sleeping bags, tie-dye, and bag of weed.....and, don't forget the brown acid." Great idea, Amerigo!
