Just a thought regarding the hypocrisy of conservatives.
How is it that anything the government may provide that will help society out is automatically bad inefficient and a step toward socialism, yet they continue to pump hundreds of billions of dollars into the Pentagon and our defense budget. It seems to me that the right wing loves socialist programs only if they are used for destruction and intimidation. Actually helping people should be a business, geared to make a profit, while not actually providing adequate help. Imagine if we flipped it and healthcare and education were totally socialized yet open up the military to private industries, since they dont really want to help people, but rather whatever makes a profit is preferred.

Of course I see the problem here, we would always have war, not much different than now I know, because they would have to use the product.

I guess my main complaint is you can't be halvsies on things either you want a socialist country or a completely privatized every man for himself type of country. Having both will not sustain. Its like using a condom when you have sex with your wife, you really want to be careful and conservative and use the condom that you paid for but then again it feels so damn good to do it the natural way. After a while you will want to dip into the wife provided fun because it is better and oops you have a kid.

Ok Im freaking bored at work right now and that was my best analogy. Condoms are the conservative free market and skin is the liberal socialized way.

1. It's important to remember that so-called conservatives have no real ideology anymore
The days of the Goldwater conservatives are gone. Even towards the end of his life, Goldwater identified more closely with Libertarians than he did with conservatives. The GOP is now the party of Christ and Rush Limbaugh. God is on their side and everyone else is going to hell. They can't even get that right as Christ was a pacifist and an advocate for the poor.
