Can people have allergic -esque reactions to microwave ovens? |
|
Like itchy skin or hives when one is used? Someone is telling me they have that problem. I've never heard of such a thing but as someone who himself has spent years trying to convince people of perfume/chemical sensitivities, I want to be open to the idea. Still, I can't find much info at all about this. Anyone aware of this?

6. i would tell them to use a convection oven |
|
people aren't normally allergic to microwave RADIATION, they can get sick from it though, especially if the unit is defective or some seal is defeated.
this doesn't even cover the carcinogenic effects of certain minerals exposed to microwave radiation or a whole host of issues surrounding microwave ovens.

5. I'm to the point where I think one can develop allergies to anything.... |
|
I picked up a case of athlete's foot a while back, and developed an allergic reaction to whatever fungus or yeast was causing it.
I don't know anything about this, but frankly- it wouldn't surprise me. Histamine responses are nothing if not crazy and unpredictable.

7. Microwaves are cesspools |
|
When I was in school and we'd just started our microbiology course, we were sent off to swab various things. Guess what grew LOTS of nasty nasty nasty bacteria? Yep, the lunchroom nuker.
Of course, the person telling you that could also be allergic to the stuff being nuked, there is a vent in the microwave that circulates air. And the vent could be contaminated.

8. yeah I was going ta say |

not the microwave itself but the layers of goo on the inside could be growing all kinds of things, if not just having a spill of something in there that the person might be reacting to
