Wow...The Arch Dudeship just watched a purty good storm unfold here at the monastery.
Gray, billowing clouds danced overhead along swaying tree tops as a sliding edge of darkness cut along a rim of golden horizon.
Fabulous stuff, man.
Standing there gawking at the fierce beauty of it all kinda made everything else seem small in comparison...Called to mind the words of Dudeism's compeer, Lao Tzu:
The sky is everlasting
And the earth is very old.
Why so? Because the world
Exists not for itself;
It can and will live on.
Or, as the Dude woud say, "Life goes on, man."
Now, what's my point here, dudes? Hmm. What is my point here? Honestly, I don't know. It had something to do with letting you all know that a new movie about our ethos, The Achievers, has been released, but I ended up ramblin' again. Here's a link to an article about the movie:
http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/arts/la-et-lebowski30-2009jul30,0,1650079.storyWe also got the scoop here at The Dudespaper:
http://dudespaper.com/like-a-child-who-walks-into-the-middle-of-a-movie.html/Oh yeah, I've also been meaning to remind you that a book by St. Da Fino's very own Dudey-Satva, Cathleen Falsani, is due out soon (this fall, I believe). It's called The Dude Abides.
The folks at Amazon.com describe it this way:
"Join award-winning author and columnist Cathleen Falsani as she explores the serious existential questions raised in the movies of the wildly popular and always irreverent Coen brothers. Coen fans and film lovers will appreciate Falsani's unique blend of contemporary insight and spiritual discernment that is both entertaining and illuminating."
I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that. Sounds like the kinda book that'll help make you see the beauty in all of life's storms.
Or whatnot.
Take it easy, man. The world really needs it.
