I despise cliches, but...
Today is September 2...This would have been my dad's 67th birthday (he died in Feb.) and it feels very strange to me...Father's Day was tough enough to deal with, along with Tiger Woods on TV and now the start of the Fall (his favorite season) and football (his favorite sport) season...

I know it sounds hokey and we've heard it all before; but I would ask you to speak to or call up a loved one today...Reconcile with a friend or relative you had a falling out with...It doesn't have to be some ultra-saccarine "I just called to say I love you"-type of thing, or some super-heavy tell-them-everything-you-ever-wanted-to-tell-them -- just talk with the person (through your word alone they will know you care)...Talk with them and really listen to what is going on in their lives...Tell them a joke just to hear them laugh...Long story short, I just want people to remember to cherish the people they walk through life with...It is one of our greatest gifts...

-Scott

4. thanks, he was..
he was a doctor and a humanitarian, an expert in U.S. history that loved his books and sports...Even when ailing he was able to get himself to the polls to vote for Obama (that election night and Christmas were two of the last high points he would remember...Mom and I watched the inauguration bedside with him while he was in a coma)...From the beginning to the end, growing up with segregation to finally casting that vote, his eyes had seen a lot...
