Even the publisher's jacket copy folks have given up on the "a great artist at the peak of his powers" stuff, but it's very worthwhile. If I said much more, I'd be too tempted to post spoilers. Suffice it to say that there are many likable characters, the neo-cons are sufficiently oily, vicious and contemptible, and the violence is almost all offstage while the sex is non-existent. I enjoyed it and recommend it (and probably would still even if I weren't a major fan).
