My repug mother has officially written me off. She even invoked "9/11" - Series |
|
So, my mother is a repug. We have only ever gotten along when I didn't talk about my politics or my religion or anything that was important to me. She voted for Bush - twice. She is a racist in addition to being a lousy grandmother.
So, I wrote her a letter asking her to put aside what she felt about me and be a grandmother to her grandkids. Well, I got back a letter today in which she basically blasted me to smitereens.
What got me, though, was that she mentioned that I was "petty" and that I needed to let go of everything because of "9/11 and the Iraq War." Seriously. :eyes:
She is a hateful woman and a bigot to boot. I spent my entire life fighting with this woman for love, respect, and some kind of calm. She has never respected my beliefs or choices in life. Darn woman.
But 9/11?? Seriously?

She couldn't believe it when I marched in 2005 in DC. Called me her little "anarchist." :eyes: Cause, you know, peaceful protest = anarchy.

2. My mother told me I was the cause of 9/11 |
|
If I had known that being an atheist and marrying someone who is a different race would cause 9/11, the actions of my youth might have given me pause - not! You are not the only one out there who has been subjected to delusional idiocy. I'm very sorry it happened to you too.

Damn. You need to tell them that in the 9/11 forum. ;)
My mother has gotten worse over the years. The last break between us came when she decided to tell us about a patient in the hospital where she worked. He apparently raped a bunch of kids. Of course, she told this story in front of my kids complete with curse words and graphic detail. Well, up until I stopped her. She blew a gasket and said, "I'll say whatever I damn well please."
Hateful woman.

3. You don't need this... |
|
And you don't deserve it, either...
I'd walk away, but leave the door open so that if she has a change of heart (fat chance) she could come back.
Your children don't need a lousy grandmother either.
Consider that she might be mentally unstable. Or ill...
Anyone who invokes 9/11 now could very well be ill.

5. Thanks. I was only doing it for the kids |
|
I swallowed my pride and wrote a very restrained letter and asked her nicely to please be involved with the kids because they ask about her.
I can find a better grandmother on craigslist, dammit.
I told my husband that she might be getting unstable. The letter was one-page, no line spaces, in 8 point font.
I appreciate the hug.

7. I have. I just was trying to leave an opening for the kids |
|
They ask about her. She is the only grandparent they have left.
Of course, I won't let them within 1000 feet of her now.
