But a 41-year-old neighbor chased down the boy, tackled him and held him until police arrived to arrest him Tuesday night.
Lincoln police Chief Tom Casady says the boy took a 1988 Honda that had the keys in it from a Kwik Shop. Police were called after the Honda hit a fence, stop sign and parked car in a neighborhood.
Casady says the boy had a blood-alcohol content of 0.14 at the time of his arrest — nearly twice the legal driving limit of 0.08.
Police believe the boy also stole his parents car in June and hit a parked car. Investigators could not determine if he had been drinking during that incident.
