Some idiot woke me up, pounding on my door, trying to get into my apartment
at 1:30 am. What upset me is that he didn't go away the first time I yelled at him to do so. He kept twisting the doorknob and saying, "I'm supposed to be here!" Then he'd say, "Would you stop?" when I kept yelling at him. Finally he went away when I said I was picking up the phone to call the cops (which I was about to do) and he kept saying, "What the fuck? What the fuck?"
Right after that I saw a gray truck (late model, nice truck) leave, then come back. It sat there a while and then left again with two guys in it. A cop car just happened to drive by as they were backing out (nice touch huh?)

I think he was just at the wrong apartment, but what bothers me is HE WOULDN'T FUCKING GO AWAY WHEN I TOLD HIM TO DO SO!!! How fucking drunk do you have to be to tell the person on the inside of the door, who is screaming at you, "I'm supposed to be here?"

I'm going to report this to the apartment manager when I take my rent over tomorrow

1. Do you have a baseball bat.
Good that the cops came when they did.

2. Get one of those baseball bats with spikes sticking out of it
Drunks hate those. A can of mace next to the door is a handy way to fuck up a drunks night.

4. I don't
I suppose I should get one. I've thought about getting some sort of recording of a barking dog too. It scared the living fuck out of me, I'm only just starting to wind down.

7. I still have my baseball bat I played with when I was kid.
I have a friend that has battery powered door and window alarms.

We have a fenced yard with big dogs, good luck getting in.

3. Scary....
Summer of 99 I was living in low income housing, and around 3am I heard a knock at the door, and as I looked at the door, I saw light from the hallway seeping through, and I realized the door was slightly open...

I got up, and answered the door, two cops were standing there, and they asked me "have you seen any trespassers or drunks walking around" I told the officers I didn't hear/nor see anything out of the ordinary. They asked me why my door was open, and I said I didn't know why, sometimes the lock doesn't catch when I shut the door, and bam...I hear my toilet flush.

Kicker is, I was living by myself...I turn around as I hear my bathroom door open, and here was a short, very drunk man...stumbling right at me. I step to the side, and he stumbles to the door and opens it further, and he looks at the cops. I tell the cops that this fella doesn't belong here, and they hauled him away...

When the cops left, I was standing in my kitchen, and looked at all the convenient weapons/knives that were laying around...after this incident, I definitely made sure my doors were locked.

6. Yep, walked right in....
he was walking around the apartments trying door knobs, hence why the cops were called on him, my door was the winner, because I didn't shut it right(sometimes).

It was scary, for a little while...I just made sure my door was shut, it could've been worse.

My parents have had to deal with a lot, they have had drunks break in and sleep in their garage, their vehicles, and house(one fell asleep in the livingroom). One drunk lady even got into a shouting match with my mother, over whose house it was...drunk lady persisted that our home, was hers...until she saw my mother piano and said "I don't got a piano" and my mother says "no shit".....

Its one reason why my parents have so many dogs, I swear you can't even fart in their house without their army of Pom's barking their asses off.

8. It is more common than you would think
I know a guy who busted someone's back door open thinking it was his house.

I had my old neighbor who had Alzheimer's walk into my house in the middle of the day a couple times.

11. That is SO bizarre! I have NEVER forgotten where I lived
Where I parked my car, yes, but not where my apartment was, even when I first moved in. I have a friggen note for UPS on the door, I guess Slush Boy just didn't choose to see it?

9. That sound a 12-gauge pump makes when a round is chambered
is highly effective at making people see reason.

10. I'm guessing a 12 gauge pump is a gun?
 Nope, don't have one of those either. I think I'll start with the mace by the door and work up from there.

12. Try "You have the wrong place" instead of "go away"
You don't say what you told him, but just make sure you don't say stuff that could sound like his girlfriend (or whoever) fighting with him. "Go away" or "I'm calling the police" won't help him register that he has the wrong place.
