Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

This afternoon I will be vanishing for a while, I have a meeting out of house regarding our database server. If we are lucky we can hand over our database to the city and get rid of the server. Then we will have access to the database over Internet. Welcome to the future .. LOL

Today it is grey and raining. Two days ago we had temps in the higher 80s. Today the temps are in the lower 60s x( And I don't have anything to wear. I think I need to buy me some shirts for the fall.

2. Good morning petersond
:hi:  :loveya:

Ah bills ... the world would be so much nicer without them. I barely get bills, the companies take the money right away from my account. That way I don't have to write checks. Due to my second job my account starts to look not so red anymore.

3. I got 13 to take care of tomorrow, but after that
I only got 2 more, with the next payday....I have to start getting ready for winter, this year I'm going all propane, instead of wood. I do nothing buy money orders nowadays, I don't trust any bank with jack anymore, to many mistakes, money orders work better for me.

I'm doing ok. Nothing eventful. I tried really hard to think of something else to say but couldn't do it. I have no choice. Last July was the hottest July recorded here in Phoenix and August was third hottest August recorded. I don't have the numbers for July but in August we had 5 daily record highs. And 11+ days of 110+ weather. I have to credit this link: http://www.abc15.com/content/weather/stories/story/After-the-hottest-Julys-on-record-August-sets-a/RLvGKtOHdkO7hmwA-Bx32g.cspx for the numbers and this picture says it all. :hi:

5. Good morning Jon
:hi:  :loveya:

As you have seen, I talked about the weather in my OP as well. I heard that August was way too dry this year here but it wasn't a record August.
No wonder it is so hot where you live ... you are in Arizona. I always connect that with hot and dry weather.

It didn't crack the top 10 but it was below average for us. I don't have the AZ History book anymore but Marshall Trimble said Arizona had every type of a certain landscape except for glaciers or something along those lines. I just live in the Sonoran Desert but Arizona is really a unique state in the variety of climates and topographical characteristics.

Here is a few examples and remember this is Arizona! :D

8. Thank you for the pictures
Seems like Arizona is worth a trip :)

What I would love to see are the pueblos by the Anasazi.

11. I'd like to visit there too. Interestingly enough it isn't too far south of Flagstaff
The bottom picture I posted to you. I haven't done much traveling here in Arizona but there is a number of places I'd love to see as well but I've been fortunate to see quite a few places. Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Window Rock to name a few. Though not as impressive as the three I mentioned and not even in Arizona. Southeast Utah actually, a very fascinating rock formation is "Mexican Hat". It looks like an upside down sombrero.

13. Hmmmmm
I think I know where one of my next trips to the U.S. oughta go .... you live in such a big country with so many wonderful things to see. Nature and history.

I am very interested in the history of the Native Americans. I read a lot about it. I also would like to visit some historic scenes.

14. I couldn't tell you much about the history but I can tell you about a legend
Edited on Thu Sep-03-09 05:15 AM by JonLP24
I've had many native american friends throughout the years. In fact when I was living in Flagstaff it was when I went to Window Rock, Arizona with a few friends to attend the Navajo Nation fair. Every time I asked my friends, specifically ones that grew up or lived part time on the reservation if they ever seen a 'skinwalker' and they all said yes. They gave me very detailed descriptions of what they saw and how they reacted. They weren't the type to lie to me when I asked a serious question and were very descriptive.

Based on what they told me a 'skinwalker' is a shape-shifting creature that usually comes in the form of coyote or wolf and a human like figure. They can travel at the speed of light or very fast. For example one friend told me he seen one pop up about several hundred yards away, in a second it was half the distance, a second later it was in front of his face and then disappeared. Another told me that one was banging on the walls and the windows of her home and vanished. That story I can't remember exactly how it happened but it was very frightening. All of said their encounters happened at night and it's more then just a few people. Even my mom has been told about encounters at jobs she has worked.

However I don't know if they actually exist and I personally haven't seen one and I've been through long drives through the reservations at night and but not many times. Probably 10 or less times so my experience doesn't stack up to those who grew up on reservations. Anyways I thought that might interest you.

On edit: I've looked into information about 'Skinwalker Ranch' in Utah and very fascinating stuff. The locals refer to the area beyond the ranch as "Skinwalker ridge" and from what I've read and saw in videos it seems to be a hotspot for that type of activity if it indeed exists.

On edit again, about the Navajo Nation fair it was an experience that I'm glad I was able to live. I wouldn't take it away for anything and you can really learn all about what the Navajo culture is about.

I admit I haven't heard of skinwalkers so far, so you telling me made me learn something new.

I can only imagine how interesting the Navajo Nation Fair must have been.

6. Good morning Miss Honeychurch
:hi: :loveya: :pals:

That is a nice picture! I took a bunch in Charlotte yesterday and forgot to download them.

Listen to this: while my parents were in the Performing Arts Center downtown, I hung around outside taking pics. I became mesmerized by the doorway which was reflective and was amusing myself by experimenting with taking a pic that had my reflection in it.

Next thing I know, here is this big security goon guy telling me that Homeland Security rules state that no one can take pictures of DOORS downtown. WHAT!!!??

I told him I live in Key West and people take pictures of EVERYTHING. He said, "well not here ma'am"

I smiled and was nice but omg, when my parents came out I was sitting by the fountain like this::grr:

I love taking pictures of doors. Granted, most times I take pics of old doors but nevertheless !!!!

10. I know you like door pics too
and I was thinking of you as I was trying to frame my pic the way I wanted.

When this fellow accosted me, I wondered what you might have said to him, lol. I thought of saying something, but there was really no point. He was one of those people who are happy to be a security person wearing a uniform. He was dumb as a rock and had no sense of humor at all.

Today I have to decide if I fly back or take a chance and wait until tomorrow.

I took some pics downtown of old churches and I liked the juxtaposition of those with the new skyscrapers. We will see how they came out. I forgot to bring my camera with me to Charlotte (:grr: ), so I was using my mother's camera that I got her for her birthday last year.

Sorry for the disjointed post...I have too many things in my brain right now!

Hmmm ... when do you have to be back at work? Do you really wanna arrive and start working right away?

Not sure what I would have said to the security guy. I would have been speechless for a minute. And I always have the "luck" to think of the witty answers only hours later ....

I have to be back at work on Saturday, so even if I go back tomorrow I will have a little time still off.

Gotta check the flights starting right NOW. This is Labor Day weekend coming up and that could be a problem...

I'm battling a muscle pull in my thigh, but it seems to be getting better. I just have to take it easy today. I'm good at that. :)

18. The weird part is
I'm not quite sure.

I may have strecthed it the wrong way, all I know is when I woke up yesterday I felt a twinge and and pain. I might have even happened while I slept.

I'm going to the stores in a few minutes, a nice easy stroll seemes to loosen the tendons when this happens. I just have to be careful. There's where I have problems. ;)

24. Good morning MHC
I'm doing well thank you. Little tired as I worked on the Ambulance last night. Fall is definately upon us. I am missing the summer already. Here in my area the traffic picks up because of schools. Between the school buses, parents driving their kids and the few remaining walkers it really makes it tougher to get to work.
