Dan Snyder sues unemployed season ticket holders for extra money
http://sports.yahoo.com/top/blog/roy_s_johnson/post/Hard-luck-Washington-fans-get-skinned;_ylt=AgYbpRPznFZTnfjOGZwykNVDubYF?urn=top,187128

Synder is hurting these people (and many others) by suing them because – due to various economic circumstances not unlike millions of other Americans are enduring – they could no longer afford their multi-year season-ticket contract and often would agree to a "settlement" they also could not afford.

According to the Post, Synder's Wfi Stadium Inc. sued 125 ticket holders for a total of $3.6 million, winning $2 million in judgments from 34 ticket holders, most of whom couldn't afford an attorney and subsequently didn't show up in court.

The judgement against Hill, who had a 10-year ticket agreement, was $66,364. Clarno lost a judgment for $80,837. Hubbard, $71,000. And Butts, who had four Touchdown Club seats, a whopping $209,351.

This is unconscionable. Where is the outrage over this injustice? Where is Roger Goodell?!

The Redskins' general counsel, David Donovan, bravely spoke to the Post and addressed each of the individuals in the story. He added that suing is a last resort used only against a minuscule portion of the team's 20,000 annual premium seat contract holders. "For every one we sue, I would guess we work out a deal for half a dozen."

Stay classy Redskins.

The $$$$ is just ridiculous - and is just an update of what Rome did with the gladiators - gotta have something to entertain (distract) the masses.

4. and they were caught selling blocks of tickets to brokers
Freezing out local fans while offering tickets to the opposing teams fans.

They've also always talked about this legendary waiting list for season tickets and then they pull this crap. Let the people off and offer the ticket to someone on the list.

11. The problem is that the upper deck is dreadful and might as well not be there...
not to mention it eats up an entire day getting to and from the stadium.

I have turned down invitations to go to games.

None of this makes any sense. And I don't buy the Dan Snyder is Darth Vader either. He's a smart business man. He's got to know this would be bad for business.

13. I bet Snyder will have to suck it up to save face.
This truly sickens me. Just cancel the ticket, and sell it to someone else. Economic times are tough, and the Skins have been either sucky or upper-end mediocre, but they still sell tickets.

On Digg, they posted the Redskins office number. If they want any peace, they will have to capitulate. The Washington Post had this story.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/02/AR2009090203887.html?referrer=digg

Poor lady has been going to games since before I was born, and the Redskins sue her. Very fucking classy.

But I know bullshit when I hear it. And the person who is claiming this is happening ISN'T telling us the whole story. She's a lawyer. She knows how to spin stuff. When it comes to the media..Headlines>>>>>facts. But don't let your bias get in the way of objectivity.

22. Take off the blue and silver glasses and ask why Jerruh's Cowturds
declined to comment when asked if they used the same practice.

All of these teams could just cancel the contracts and sell the seats. The woman in the post article went to Redskins games since 66. The Skins got buttloads of money from this woman, and rather than just say, "ok lady, well just cancel your tickets," they may make her go bankrupt.

There are several teams which do not sue. The Redskins, and all the other teams which "declined to comment" should follow suit in this shit of an economy.

^ That post.

The article addresses the Redskins doing something blatantly shitty. I posted that it was shitty. You posted saying, "Oh, look how shitty the Redskins are," and took it as an opportunity to bash the skins when it appeared by the Cowboy's declining to comment, that they use the same practice. I'd like to see where in that post I give any impression that I am a Snyderite.

Kettle, meet pot.

32. First off, I'm not a dude
I am a Redskins fan, which is why I find the practice by the team to be shitty. WHICH IS WHAT I POSTED IN MY FIRST POST ON THE TOPIC. Snyder is an asshole.

You, however, have to ask yourself if your team is doing the same thing before just taking the opportunity to bash the Skins.

You're like the Glenn Beck of Cowboys fans.

17. I guess a lot of NFL teams do it, and it does seem bad for business
The Washington Post article confirms through the Skins that it is done, they say only in dire situations. To me, if you can cancel the tickets and sell them, it is not dire at all.

24. If the Deadskins hadn't forgotten how to play football, this might not be a problem
This is real fine publicity here--when you quit buying season tickets for whatever reason, whether it's because you can't afford them or just because the team is too bad to watch, and you get sued. Yes, these fans had multiyear contracts...but wouldn't suing for specific performance (forcing the fans to buy the tickets) have been better?

I don't think I'd have to use more than the fingers on one hand to count how many home games we've been able to watch due to the empty stadium black outs.
