Am I the only person who doesn't take personal phone calls at work?
jaysus feckin christ! One person spends hrs on the phone with a spouse and contractors building a house. Another is on the phone with family members at least 12 to 15 times a day at least! That is when the cell phone isn't goin off because the other family members can't get through on the work line. Typical "what r u doin" no much blah blah blah. weekend plans blah blah blah. Somebody is doing a refinance job on a house. Another is helping a family member buy a house. One person makes phone calls to fill meds, haircuts, car service etc etc etc then asks for the time off. Meanwhile nobody gets through to do business! Right now there is a coworker who has been on the phone for 20 minutes on a personal call while somebody waits in the lobby. Granted, I am sittin here typing but this took two minutes not hours a day everyday!

1. I have all your co-workers - rolled into one.
I've NEVER seen someone on the phone soooooooooooo much.

Most of my co-workers do, but I am in a line of work that is flexible for things like that.

4. I keep mine to a minimum.
If it's going to be longer than a couple of minutes, I leave my desk and go to the break room.

5. Do you pay them?
If their conducting personal business on company time personally costs you money, or makes your work load heavier, then by all means, do something about it.

If not, it's your boss's problem.

6. I work in a call center. Personal calls are not permitted.
Now if the family has an emergency they have a way to get me in a hurry at work, if it's not an emergency I have the cell phone on me on vibrate and I check the text messages. If needs be I call at lunch time, but if it's simple as "bring home milk" then I do just that.

Mark.

7. I hate talking on the phone period. So I'm not one to do it at work.
