Because I could not think of anything LESS offensive than someone thinking I was gay. It would be like someone trying to insult me by saying I had green eyes when my eyes were blue. Yeah you're wrong, but who gives a crap?

But then there IS the issue of the moron calling me gay thinking that the term is an insult some how... and that DOES offend me.

So I still get offended, but not for the reason the idiot insulting me hopes for.

I don't really know what my point is. Just something that popped in my head.

1. It's called
pro⋅jec⋅tion /prəˈdʒɛkʃən/ –noun
The tendency to ascribe to another person feelings, thoughts, or attitudes present in oneself, or to regard external reality as embodying such feelings, thoughts, etc., in some way.

2. stuff like that just makes me laugh out loud. I can't help it. The
absudity of it all. The fact that being gay is not offensive and the fact that I am in fact NOT gay would just crack me right the fuck up.

Sticks and stones...and all that.

6. Same here
For some reason it's common thing to say for people my age. I usually brush it off and tell them it's offensive, even if they don't mean it the way it sounds. I know people who will have gay friends or family members, even openly support gay marriage, that still use the term gay as an insult.

What I think is worse yet is when someone seriously asks me if I'm a lesbian because I care about gay rights. It makes me sad that people assume you don't care about anyone but your own.

7. Yep. I'm with ya.
I tell 'em there's no such thing as gay rights. They're called Civil Rights. And I'm all for 'em.

8. I have had dyke hurled at me when I had a mohawk and big arm muscles
That is what breaking rock with hand tools will do to you ! I was tempted to yell back "straight!" but just yelled "asshole!"

9. Maybe you can say: "Is that supposed to be an insult?"
Make 'em think about it.
