As a straight man, it's a strange situation when someone tries to insult me by calling me gay. |
|
Because I could not think of anything LESS offensive than someone thinking I was gay. It would be like someone trying to insult me by saying I had green eyes when my eyes were blue. Yeah you're wrong, but who gives a crap?
But then there IS the issue of the moron calling me gay thinking that the term is an insult some how... and that DOES offend me.
So I still get offended, but not for the reason the idiot insulting me hopes for.
I don't really know what my point is. Just something that popped in my head.

absudity of it all. The fact that being gay is not offensive and the fact that I am in fact NOT gay would just crack me right the fuck up.

For some reason it's common thing to say for people my age. I usually brush it off and tell them it's offensive, even if they don't mean it the way it sounds. I know people who will have gay friends or family members, even openly support gay marriage, that still use the term gay as an insult.
What I think is worse yet is when someone seriously asks me if I'm a lesbian because I care about gay rights. It makes me sad that people assume you don't care about anyone but your own.

I tell 'em there's no such thing as gay rights. They're called Civil Rights. And I'm all for 'em.
