What kind of snooping is possible with a cell phone? |
|
I have a friend whose husband has been a real pain in recent years. He probably has some mental issues but of course he says he doesn't - everyone else does. Anyway, she found out he was recording the phone at home and had tracking software on the computer a couple of years ago. They finally got divorced last month and she got him out of the house a couple of weeks ago but he still calls her constantly, has to know what she is doing, tries to monopolize all her time. She wonders about her cell phone. He works for a cell phone company (used to be Verizon for years and now another one) so he probably knows more than most about what is possible as far as snoopiness. She got a new phone six months ago and the battery is continually wearing out very quickly, which may just be a faulty battery, but of course she wonders if he has something going on with the phone.
So, for the tech savvy, what would he actually be capable of doing as far as stalking her via her cell phone?

1. I'm not tech savvy, but it sounds to me like she needs to change carriers |

3. If her carrier is the same as the one that her ex works for |

she should switch. Since he knows her name, he may be able to access her account info. I wouldn't use Verizon either, because he may have contacts there that would do a search for him. Perhaps the best thing, short term at least, is get a Tracphone for the next few months. Hopefully, he'll get the hint and drop the whole thing.
