What are you doing for Labor Day?
I'm grading student notebooks, which is a form of labor. If I finish early, I might go down to St Luke's Hospital delivery room and appreciate the irony.

2. I'm off - I'll do reports tomorrow - but my husband is meeting a counterpart
about a new job. (the counterpart is from overseas, so the Labor Day deal doesn't seem to apply) Then we have to finish cleaning out the basement to put in a new furnace tomorrow... It's raining today, so we did most of our fun activities yesterday.

I'll probably take my son to the Rib Festival unless it pours, and he can see the Steeler trophies on display... :D

4. Up at 5 AM. cleaned out the A/C, did dishes, made biscuits.
Planning a big super-breakfast in mid afternoon, then a nap.

Mostly playing guitar and looking for information on a blues performer named Hambone Willie Newberg, and an old song writer named Cecil Mack from about 100 years ago.

6. Ugh! I sympathize
I graded notebooks last weekend -- what a chore! 115 of the suckers. I decided to alternate weeks so I only have 30 or so each week. They don't need weekly checks, IMHO. If 4 weeks proves to be too long of an interval, I'll do it every two weeks but not EVERY NOTEBOOK EVERY DAMN WEEK! I learned my lesson well.

I now have a couple of hours for quiet and unhurried planning. WTF is that?

7. Preparing for a reunion I never dreamed in a million years
would happen. My best friend since high school was planning on visiting her mother down in Abilene, TX and then planning on flying here from there on her way home to Chicago (she's a flight attendant.) Her aunt from Columbus, OH is also down there visiting her sister, my friend's mom. When my friend told her the plans on the way home, they said, "We want to see her, too. We'll drive you to Tulsa."

So I get to see three women that I dearly love, two of which I haven't seen in decades. :woohoo:

I'm cooking and baking my heart out and preparing the house so they will be spoiled as they deserve when they arrive.

11. Fooling around and doing some maintenance on some camera gear.
Tightening some lens plates, installing a new head on one of the tripods, cleaning off memory cards. In other words, tedious shit. From which I am taking a break at the moment, checking out DU and looking for a mindless movie on TV that I won't have to watch too closely.

16. I walked in a Labor parade for the Dems then went to the Labor picnic.
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 03:59 PM by davsand
Lots of happy feedback along the parade route and a LOT of families out at the picnic. Saw a bunch of friends and put in the "expected" appearance.

I am one of the usual suspects, I guess.

The municipal primary election is a week from tomorrow, so there's a lot of work to do between now and then!
