Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

How was your day off?

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was way too busy at work to keep up with the thread.

Today I want to go swimming and do aqua fitness but I am not sure I will be able to. I am expecting my monthly visitor today x( Bad timing .... (sorry if that is TMI)

1. Good morning
Nothing eventful for me. I was fortunate to be able to watch some great college football games over the weekend including a great one between Miami(FL) & Florida State today. I can't think of much else really but it was a fun and entertaining weekend for me. How about yourself? :hi:

2. Good morning Jon
:hi:  :loveya:

Sounds like a perfectly relaxing weekend. Did you go to the games or did you watch them on TV?

I went once to a football game here in Frankfurt. It was fun. But football isn't THAT popular in Germany, so I barely see any games. Even though I slowly start to understand the rules. Very slowly.

We had no holiday yesterday, so I worked. I also worked Saturday. Sunday was mainly reading and sleeping and watching TV.

3. It's good you got some leisure time in
Are you talking about NFL Europe when you saw a game? Frankfurt Galaxy had a team there before NFL Europe folded for financial reasons. Jake Delhomme developed into a fine quarterback with that team in either 1999 or 2000 that currently starts for the NFL USA team Carolina Panthers. NFL Europe gave me something to enjoy during the offseason.

I didn't go to any games, watched them all on TV. My favorite team the Arizona State Sun Devils(Remember the picture I posted in my own morning thread? That's where they play) beat Idaho St 50-3 but they were expected to win that game because Idaho St plays in a weaker college football division and it was what they call a "tune-up" game.

5. Yes
it was the finals in the last year of the NFL Europe. Frankfurt Galaxy lost. I am seeing announcements these days about the final of the "German Bowl". Guess they continue with another name and other financiers.

4. Good Morning, MHC. Nice picture of a breakfast nook
That's either a very small table, or a very large powdered doughnut.

I had a pleasant weekend. Just goofed off a bit and did a lot of reading. I've just discovered Carl Sagan and I'm going to read all of his books. I'm excited about that- it's been a life changing event. It's also rekindled my love for reading. You are very fortunate to get to work with all of those books. Being a librarian doesn't pay very good here in the States, especially since you need a master's degree to be one, but if I were to go back to school I think that's what I'd want to do.

Glad to hear you had a relaxing weekend. Did you hear from that lady again?

I am reading books by Jo Nesbo at the moment. Mysteries. Pretty good read. Never read anything by Carl Sagan I have to admit. Actually never heard of him. What are his books about?

I had to study 3 1/2 years for my degree.

24. I did hear from the woman in question
She said she's seeing someone right now, but she'd keep me on the back burner. I don't know if that's good or bad. :)

Carl Sagan is a famous American astronomer who popularized science and skeptical thinking. He's a non-fiction author.

15. Good Afternoon, MissH!
I bought a new computer over the weekend! :bounce: :bounce: It was remarkably expensive, but I'm getting a good bit of it back in rebates :-) I did splurge a little - getting the bigger screen and a new printer too, but it was worth it. Now I can print out the photos for the calendar and see how they will really look.

How was your weekend?

YAY!! Good for you. Sooner or later I will buy myself a laptop. I want a Macbook but they are darn expensive. So that will have to wait some more time. I also need to save my pictures on CD-ROMs. I don't want to lose them if my PC dies.

My weekend was OK. Saturday I only had one annoying customer and Sunday I read a lot. Also, talked some more with the security guy Saturday. I won't see him this week, because he works another shift. I went groceries shopping during my lunch break (guess why) and another cashier - who knows I think he is a hottie- told me that he is 42 years old and has 2 daughters. But he is looking (sounds like he is divorced). Hmmmmm .....

with all that eye candy.

I went with the macbook pro - I could only afford to do it with the educational discounts, but I can't imagine buying anything but a mac...pc's always give me so much trouble.

I mean there is eye candy with the the customers but most times they have a lady hanging at their arms and kissing in front of me (really not necessary!!!) But now with eye candy actually working there .... :D

I never had a macbook in my life. And here they cost about one month's earnings ....

it makes work more bearable.

Macs are expensive everywhere, I think. But in my experience...they are worth it. I've really never had a problem with any of the ones I've owned. I bought my last computer in 2001 or 2002, and it's worked beautifully until just recently. It still works, but it's having trouble with newer programs and a lot of stuff on the internet doesn't load properly (and it's slow).

I have my recent PC since 4 years. It only started making coughing sounds recently. So far it doesn't interfere with anything. But that is why I want to save my pics on CD-ROMs. Maybe I can buy a macbook with a 0%-financing.

you can get external hard drives for really cheap these days. I got mine after I lost some pictures (like literally lost - the cds disappeared), and it has been very helpful.

19. G'day, MissH!
:hi:

Yesterday was our day off. The weekend here has Dragon*Con, the huge science fiction/fantasy/comics/gaming/etc. convention and both my brothers were there. I didn't go because all of us didn't need to be out of reach at the same time. Good thing I didn't go, too, because I had to clear my dad's belongings from the nursing home. Dad is improving, but not ready to leave the hospital, and mom wasn't going to pay the $100+ per day to hold the bed.

Hope that today is a more quiet day. :hi:

The youngest one helps out, too, but he works contract and/or freelance, so he doesn't have a regular schedule and not always available, esp. weekends. The middle one (and his wife) are the ones that no one can find. I find that shocking because his wife is from the Philippines, and they, like a lot of the Pacific Rim countries, respect their elders, esp. parents and grandparents. I would have thought that she would be more helpful being from the old country. If she didn't step forward, she would at least give him hell for being a useless slug.

I want to go to an indoor pool here in Frankfurt. A sports club I joined a year ago is "renting" the pool each Tuesday and I can swin and do aqua fitness for only €3/month extra. Way cheaper than paying the entry fee at the pool itself.

I wanted to start today. But that won't be possible now.
