I hate it when people try to use me |

My radio station sponsors a lot of jazz and blues events so I have a lot of tickets and backstage passes to shows and festivals. I have one "friend" who is always resurfacing when these events come near; calling, texting, etc. to "make sure we meet up, I'd love to see you" or "I'm going to be in town (coincidentally always when one of these events are happening), are you going to XYZ show?" Or she'll call and say "Do you know if tickets for XYZ are still available?" obviously hinting for me to tell her that I'll just get her free tickets.
The thing is, she never has any plans to come to town when these things aren't going on AND on the few occasions that she invites me to a Michigan football game, she makes me buy the ticket from her.
The clincher came at a festival this weekend when she complained to another friend that I didn't offer my VIP passes to her when I was leaving. My SO and I purposely took them off before we went to meet her because we knew she'd just be eying them the whole time. She wants people to think she's a bigshot patron of the arts but she's too cheap to actually donate to get the passes or buy tickets herself.
I'm thinking that she really isn't much of a friend.

1. When you're done with her, |

which you should, can I have the tickets? I'll make sure we'll meet up, 'cause I'd love to see you! I love the arts.
P. S. What's Jazz? I want Kylie Minogue VIP passes!

2. Tell her to either put up some dough, or take a hike. |
|
I'd tell her that there is quite a demand for the passes, and if she thinks that she might be getting them for free anymore, well...lots of people willing to pony up the dinero to take them off my hands.
And she isn't a 'friend' in any sense of the word. She is a 'user'. Friendship is seldom lasting or real if it's a one-way deal.
