I just lost my job today. |

Edited on Tue Sep-08-09 06:08 PM by Brigid
But truth to tell, it's almost a relief. The place might as well have a revolving door at the employee entrance anyway. And the strangest thing happened less then two weeks ago: I ran into somone who used to work there. She now works as a CNA at a very nice nursing home near my home, and loves it. She got training through a company here in town that trains CNAs and then places them with nursing homes with which they have contracts. It is too late in the day to contact them now, so I have to wait until tomorrow. I had been seriously considering this for months. I guess you could say this is a sign. I guess God really does work in mysterious ways.

1. That's a good way to look at it |
|
It's hard to keep a positive attitude when something like that happens, but I guess if you can you may have better luck finding your next job sooner. I hope everything works out.

2. Will re-training funds be available to you? |
|
Or does the agency absorb the cost of training qualified applicants?
Either way, it sounds as if the job you had wasn't the one you were going to retire from after many years of loyal service.
Good luck, and don't get discouraged.

3. The way I understand it, |
|
This agency does chanrge a fee for the 3-week training, but there are payment plans -- and besides they will waive the fee if you work for at least 6 months for one of the facilities with which they have a contract. So it's going to be rather easy to get this done one way or another.

4. Get it all in writing, and make sure you read everything before signing. |
|
It seems that the agency just wants good people able to stick it out and stay employed; after all, that's how they make money, too.
Sometimes getting fired or laid off is the best thing that ever happens. I got fired once, and I never thought it would be such a liberating experience. It made me see what a crappy job I had working for a bunch of ungrateful shitheels, and I never looked back.

7. Wait a minute...I have questions....how long were you working there, and did |
|
anyone replace you in your position? I ask this because I lost my job in June...was working there for a little over 8 years, and was told my position was being eliminated ( by some hatchet-woman ) I was told it had nothing to do with my performance but they wouldn't give me specifics....
I want specifics!!!!!!!! They wouldn't give them to me, and they should have given them to you!
I hate people
