Couple get married at 7-year-old son’s funeral
Parents say boy, who died in a N.Y. crash, had been asking them to wed
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The parents of a 7-year-old boy who died after an upstate New York car crash have fulfilled his wish that they get married, and they did it at the child’s funeral.

Amilcar Hill and Rahwa Ghirmatizion got married during Monday’s funeral service in Buffalo for their son, Asa Hill. Asa died a day after his grandfather’s car was involved a chain-reaction highway crash last week.

Hundreds of people packed the church for Asa’s funeral. The couple surprised attendees by getting married, which the parents say their son had been asking them to do.

Amilcar Hill says Asa’s organs were being donated to save other young lives.

3. I tend to agree. Even if it were his wish, it seems like a bad idea
to marry at the funeral. Still I can't imagine the grief they are dealing with. If this is how they cope, I say let em

5. Anyone notice this?
Is it me or is there an implied call to judgment here? Is there not, emanating from these brief few sentences, an appeal to outrage? A "how dare they" feel?

Well, real or imagined, I hereby exercise my right NOT TO JUDGE THIS IN ANY WAY.

These days, it's the exception, and not the rule. I wish, when it comes to people's personal lives, it were the opposite. But that someone found this newsworthy just shows you where this country's head is at: there isn't a corner of our lives that isn't ripe for the voyeurism of and subsequent judgment by others.

How do you tell a country is in decline? Overindulgence in spectacle. Just ask the Romans... oh, wait.
