Poll question: Gamers....if you were ever into it, what is your favorite Final Fantasy game? |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 02:33 PM by TK421
I have a tie....it's either six or seven...eight was pretty good, just a weird system. I hated ten with a passion ( the characters were just annoying )

|
Edited on Wed Sep-09-09 03:21 PM by TK421
the one with Golbez as the villain? Is that the one? If so, that was, in my opinion the hardest but most rewarding of all of them
edited to add: was 4 in the states? I get confused with this...sorry!

|
did I fuck things up big time, or what? Which Final Fantasy was the one with Golbez and Zeromus as the final boss?

I also hated the sphere progression system....it seemed very limited in what it offered, too

24. Depended on what you used |
|
Some players were able to beat the game with lower level characters using clear spheres.

why they had to throw that stupid-ass game in there for progression is just beyond me...and I found it extremely annoying to boot

I could not figure out how to get my characters strong enough; by about the halfway point, monsters were beating the living shit out of my group, and I gave up.

Dragon Warrior 3 was, by far my favorite RPG of all time. I even have a copy of it on my computer ( I downloaded an NES emulator and the game for it ) The only Dragon Warrior where you could multi-class and get the same abilities for your character as you progressed. An awesome game indeed...I miss my old 8-bit system for that game alone ( the thing I downloaded is very slow )
edited to add: Dragon Warrior was the first RPG I ever played, and it sucked me into the world of other RPGs.....still my all time favorite in this genre

That was, to me, the perfect game. I love all the Zeldas I've played but that one was special.
I have yet to buy a Wii simply because the only reason I buy a new console is to play a new Zelda and this time around, the expense is just too much.

Still have it. I may crank it up someday. The bookstore around the corner sells Old School NES consoles for peanuts but frankly, blowing into game cartridges to get them to work got kind of old. :)

|
I would kill to get a Super Nintendo...I know where I could get one. I got my eyes on a PS2 for dirt cheap ( mine just literally DIED on me ) crapped out....disc read error on everything I put in it and have self-cleaned it numerous times. Consoles really don't last forever...certain component just give way to wear-and-tear....this is what happened with me

It's what actually drove me to buy a PS1....I still remember that day...
I was working at Sears ( then, the department was called "Funtronics" ) It sold all the latest game systems ( They still had Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo lines going ) The Sega Saturn seemed to be the biggest up-and-comer to the Playstation, which many people still were unsure of....man am I glad I took a gamble and blew a weeks paycheck on the Playstation and FF7 ( with the game guide...I got a discounted purchase ). I didn't leave my room for at least three weeks.....lots to tell about that!
edited to add:my second favorite ( grudgingly ) would be Final Fantasy 6 ( 3 in Japan if I'm not mistaken ) Kefka is probably my favorite villain next to Sephiroth....and the ending, in my opinion was worth it...if not a tad cheesy...

17. It really IS worth finishing.....get to it, when you have the time |
|
This game encompassed so much that is wrong with this world today ( take the Shinra Inc. for example ) the perfect evil empire and a small, rag-tag bunch of misfits who stood up against it. Years after, I never did see the political innuendos that were thrown in there, now they make sense. Small example, but the message was still there....FF7 did for gamers what Pitfall did for Atari...revolutionize a gaming system ( was that a poor example? ) Eh....thinking about it now, I really don't think so.

I just ordered the original Metroid...waiting for that one to arrive. My brother had bought me a mock NES console that plays the old games...his burnt out on him, thankfully mine still works.
This console is what gaming is all about IMHO

I've only played FFVIII and FFIX, but of the two, I definitely enjoyed IX more. VIII just got too tedious with "draw magic" and the long summoning animations.

45. Final Fantasy 8 was the only one for me |
|
Very entertaining storyline and good graphics. I made it all the way to the final, I try to capture this one monster that was the best in the game to take with me for the final mission but I could never defeat him after many, many tries and I quit and never attempted the finale.
I bought Final Fantasy 9 but it seemed too much like a kids game. 8 was the only one I truly played and I loved it.
