More bus stories from today..

I was on the bus riding home from the clinic..it's a very busy bus and it's always packed. Today we had a trainer riding along with the new driver and she was MEAN!! She wouldn't let this one lady board the bus from the corner rather than the stop. When we finally picked her up all she had was this photocopy of something that she claims entitles her to a ride. The trainer refused it and they started arguing. The passengers on the bus started getting restless and started hollering "LET HER ON!!" Instead of letting a riot materialize, she let her board.

There are only two disabled areas on our buses where wheelchairs and scooters can park. We have been having a problem with people using up the areas with their baby strollers. So they started cracking down. The first woman with the stroller broke it down and boarded. Then another stop a lady tried to board with one of those huge double-strollers and the trainer told her to break it down..it was obvious with the diaper bags and all the other baby stuff, plus two babies,that it would be impossible to collapse the stroller. So she was stuck downtown with her two babies and had to wait for a bus that would let her board The only reason this was going on is because the trainer was on board.

I think they should compromise..if both handicapped areas are taken with disabled folks, then the stroller rider will have to wait for the next bus. If the stroller is already on the bus and they need area for the disabled, the stroller would have to get off the bus and wait for the next one.
