My Piglet is gone

we had her put to sleep today after she stopped eating and could no longer walk up and down the stairs in our apartment to go to the bathroom. Part of me wanted to make excuses and say she would have a better day tomorrow but when I heard her soft sighs of pain, I knew it was time to let go of my grief and let her go. She was the worst dog I've ever known but she was the best friend I ever had.
My house is so quiet and lonely without her.

I can't believe how much pain I feel today. I'm completely lost without her and incredibly lonely. My husband works all day and my best friend moved to Hamburg two months ago so I'm just sitting here sobbing and bereft and all alone. I'm thinking about volunteering at the pet shelter and who knows, maybe when the time is right, I'll find another furbaby to love.

Also, as others have said, another companion is waiting for you out there. Perhaps Piglet knew it was time, and needed to free up the space that you might give another needy fuzzball a good home. Just a few weeks after we lost Tate, this little guy came running up and said, "Me! Take me home! Give me lots of love!"


We are certain Tate guided him to us.

It comforts me to know this gaping hole in my heart will start to heal eventually.

In my desperation today I looked at the local shelter's website and I think I'm going to volunteer there with the hope that I might find another friend to love and take care of very soon. :hug:

56. All of our cats were adopted ferals, until Weird Harold (the new guy); he was a shelter cat.

We went to the local shelter to check out the kitties, and Weird Harold ran right to me and Mrs. Rat and made it known he was The One.

Each day will be a little better, some days will be really hard, but it really does get better over time. It never goes away, but it does get better.
