Good morning Lounge
How are you today?

What did you think of Obama's speech yesterday?

I went shopping with a friend after work yesterday. Got me a simple white blouse and two long-sleeved shirts for the fall. Sorry, no pictures.
I also was looking for an external hard disk ... but damn, that is expensive stuff :wow: Will have to wait a bit before I buy it.

1. Good morning!

I liked the president's speech very much. I am cautiously optimistic we are well on the road to health care for all. The glass is half full. :)
I have to hold off on certain needed pc related items myself (like a new pc.) The life of an artist!
That's a great pic. Where is Black Forest House? It sounds foreboding. :hi:  :loveya:

I want a MacBook myself .... I need to save quite some money for that. And I want .... you know the deal, there is so much stuff I want but don't have the money for. So it has to wait.

A Black Forest House is a house in the Black Forest. They have a very typical way of building these. Wiki has only an explanation in German, but they have some pictures that give you an idea http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwarzwaldhaus

3. Goodmorning Miss HoneyChurch!
Good to see you as always! I'm running a little bit late as far as logging on here goes. Not sure what I thought about the Pres's plan but the speech was a good one. :)

Off to dry my hair then out the door and down the highway I go.

Have a great day!

I watched Countdown with KO this morning on my iPod (thanks to podcasts) and from what I gathered it was a really good speech. I wish you people the best for finally getting an affordable health care. Germany is by far not the best, but I don't have to worry about not affording to go to the doctor.

I wish you a great day yourself!!!

Hey, I have an apology to make - I was just looking at the calendar and your wonderful photograph, and I just realized that there is a typo in your name. I am so sorry, and super embarrassed about it - I would swear it wasn't on the originals I sent out for printing - I double and triple check those, but it must have been. It's bad to start with, but it's even worse because you are a friend.

Have you tried looking online for your hard drive? They really are pretty reasonably priced, all things considering. I purchased a 500 GB Hard Drive at the beginning of the year for $100.

blueraven suggested the same. I will do that tonight or over the weekend. I also have to check how much MB are all my pictures combined so that I get an idea how much GB I need.

And don't you think I didn't see the thread:

yeah those birthdays find you no matter how hard you try to hide. I would think your pictures wouldn't exceed 10 - 20 GB. Which would be a very small external HD. If you get an external HD that is at least 100 GB you should be fine.

:hi: :loveya:

I feel like SA this morning...trsk, grvmpk...trying to get my coffee to wake me up.

That is a nice picture; that bed looks very comfortable and cozy.

I am ashamed to say I didn't listen to the speech, because I was watching the US Open. I did tape it and from what I've heard it sounded good, except for that ass from SC interrupting.

24. Mornin' Miss H
I'm doing good. I did not get to hear Obama's speech because I sleep during the time it aired, but I have read a few reports about it and it looks like he did good. It also looks as if some foolish Republican might have helped him out, too.

There are big changes going on where I work. We are being asked to bid on new delivery routes. I'm pretty low on the seniority list, but it looks as if I will have a shot at a good route. But I may also be asked for a favor. There is a route that nobody wants. It pays good but is undesirable because it goes into a region that gets a lot of snow in the winter and I would have to haul double trailers (notoriously known as wiggle wagons) up there as well. I did that route for a while, but moved up the ladder when a new route became available. There are 2 drivers behind me in seniority and both are too chicken to take that route, when in reality one of them should have to take it.

Me and a few other drivers are thinking that I will be called upon to take this route so the other drivers won't quit in protest, which actually would be a foolish thing to do in this economy, but that's just how bad they don't want to do that route.

If the above scenario comes to pass, I'm think that I will accept the route in question for something in return, i.e. use a route that I should be getting as a bargaining chip. The thing is I don't know what to ask for. We had to take a pay freeze this year so they won't be able to give me a raise right now. What do you think?

I don't want to take the route, but it could pay off in a good way if I do. If I'm not going to get anything out of it I won't take it. I'm just trying to think of what my demands should be. ;)

Speech was good as far as tone and delivery. Content, as far as policy, was fair, imo. I was hoping for more (much more)that resembled a true public option. But Obama did well in being strong and refuting the right wing claims.

I think it is a start in the right direction. You need a reform and you need it now. And Obama is trying his best to get the bill passed. One has to compromise, otherwise the bill wouldn't get passed.
