Scrabble points -- what's your best? |
|
My best happened when all the tiles had been drawn and my opponent, who was about 60 points up, knew that I was stuck with the Q. Since all the Us had been played in places where I couldn't use them, he figured he was safe in playing a word that ended with a T three spaces up from the middle-right triple word space. Lucky for me, he'd forgotten about the blank tile and I had it. The word I played covered two triple word scores: Q-(U)-I-X-O-T-I-C. If memory serves, it was 369 plus the bonus for using all seven tiles. That was in the mid 1970s and it's been downhill all the way. Anyhoo.
