1. oh yeah!
I knew that middle one, at least I knew I knew it but I just ... couldn't ... think where from. I didn't want to click on the link but eventually I gave in. King Crimson. Of course.

Nice find, that list. Hold my calls, I could be gone for some time.

2. Weird "article"
Edited on Fri Sep-11-09 07:35 AM by gmoney
The descriptions sound like they were poorly translated from some other language, or written by an 8 year old, and that the writer has never seen any artwork EVER, or at least no albums that don't just feature a portrait of the singer/band on the cover...

"The Mothers of Invention – Weasels Ripped My Flesh (1988)
The cover art of this cd colorfully mocks the title."

"Pixies – Doolittle (1990)
With a name like Pixies, you might expect sweet, innocent looking cover art. This is not the case."

"The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)
Some say no collection of cover art is worth mentioning without this cover."

"The Rippingtons – Modern Art (2009)
While the typography on this cd cover could be much better, the "cool cat" and his art seem to make up for it."

Huh? Some say that, eh?

Also, I would argue that many of these records are not "obscure" if you're over age 12 or know anything at all about music. Maybe they meant the art is obscure because they're not Thomas Kinkaid paintings.

4. The CD is thirty years old this year
so it's quite possible that many young people have never played an album. One of the (the only?) sad things about the demise of the album is that CDs only have about 15% of the area for artwork.
