Fucking minesweeper is pissing me off! |
|
I used to play it all the time on my old PC, and I just recently started playing it again on my new one. The old version stuck to the rules though. If a number had a mine in any of the 8 surrounding boxes the number would indicate the correct number of mines. If it was touching 1 mine, it would be a 1. If it was touching 2 mines, it would be a 2. If it was touching 3 mines, it would be a 3, and so forth. The new version though doesn't play by those rules. If it's a 1 that means "1 in most cases, but it could be up to 3", and so forth. It's a load of fucking bullshit!

You don't go fucking around with a man's minesweeper!
I wasted a lot of time with that game. I was so obsessed with it that I could not let it be until I successfully completed the 100 mine challenge. Even that wasn't good enough for me, though. I then became obsessed with beating my time. It was a downward spiral into insanity which is why I now take head meds and have had minesweeper removed from my computer.

... but I've also caught it cheating me on the number of mines twice. I've even had people come in to confirm my count isn't off.

8. I introduced that game to friends at one workplace way back when. |
|
A week later, the general manager issued an email-memo telling people to stop wasting their time playing that game :P

10. About the same OS versions for me, too |

I still prefer the "classic" version over the updated one. You can't change very many parameters with the new one, including background images...

Last time I played minesweeper, it was on Vista - worked just fine.
Might be Win7. They gussied it up and probably had some guy who couldn't know how to do basic maths do the programming...
