Do you consider an 18 foot 400 pound python a pet? |

What is it with these idiots in Florida keeping snakes?
They had some fool on Venom ER on Discovery that had gotten bit by a Black Mamba and damn near died. He had a couple dozen venomous snakes in his house. Even worse, he had a wife, 3 kids under the age of six also living there. And to top it off, he was living in a house trailer in the heart of hurricane country.

that's far too large for the average herp keeper, but for an experienced one, it's possible. However, when a snake gets THAT big, it's just too large and expensive for most people to deal with.
that's why if people want constrictors, they should stick to smaller species that max out at <10 feet

11. Well, horses weigh a lot more than that and are popular "pets." |
|
But I take your point - I would never keep a PREDATORY animal that size. :scared: If my cat weighed 400 lbs I'd have been so dead so many times over.

17. Though I have had 2 boa constrictors as pets, |
|
they were only 7 feet long. But I definitely wouldn't want a 400-pound python. One thing is that I could not afford to feed it.
