30. I have kind of a funny story about drinking on the job

about 20 or so years ago, I worked nights at a convenience store. Every night at eleven my coworker and I would lock the door. I would do all the register close out, counting money and stuff and she would do the other closing stuff. After we locked the doors, she would tell me, "I am going to get a grape juice, do you want one"? and I would always say, "no, I have a Dr. Pepper".

This went on for a year or so, and at one point I had noticed I had put on a couple of pounds, so I swore off Dr. Peppers. Again, we closed the store and my workmate said "I am going to get a grape juice, do you want one"? I couldn't have a Dr. Pepper, and I thought that a grape juice would certainly be healthier so I said, "sure, I will have a grape juice".

She brought me my grape juice, and I closed out the register and sat back in the back office to count the money and balance the books. The juice was pretty tasty so I drank it pretty quickly. Pretty soon, things started getting fuzzy, and I was feeling pretty odd. I was having a little trouble counting the money, and was unable to run my calculator.

Long story short (well, not too short, it has already run on for a bit), the grape juice turned out to be an alcohol drink called Purple Passion. Some kind of wine cooler. I had to call my husband to come pick me up, because I was unable to drive. I left my car at the store.

The next day, when my boss asked me why my car was there all day I told him "because I was too drunk to drive home last night". He looked surprised, but didnt say anything, and never asked me any more about it. I never said yes to another grape juice.
